Top 3 Major 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Hoaxes That Broke The Internet

Ever since the start of production on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in late 2013 the internet has run ramped with rumors and speculation. Most of which basically broke the movie-blogging community as well as it's readers. Here we are gonna take a look back and show you the top three hoaxes and gags that almost quite literally broke the internet as we know it.

Let me take you back to September 2013 a month before football scenes were shot by Zack Snyder regarding Gotham U vs Metropolis State. Teen heartthrob and most hated kid on the internet Justin Beiber released and selfie on his official Instagram with him holding a 'Batman vs. Superman" script. He also added in the description "Robin?" as to infer that he has been cast as Dick Grayson to Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne.  Many of his fans congratulated him on the role that he apparently just won. While others took to Twitter to rant about how terrible this casting and Warner Brothers is yet again doomed to fail in their future Batman installments:
Of course this turned out to be a gag by the guys behind Funny or Die who made the fake script for Beiber to use and punk the internet. He would later appear on Funny or Die's internet show "Between Two Ferns" with Zach Galifianakis.

Now let's fast forward a bit to July 2014. We are about half way through principle photography on the newly titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and some reports came out of Latino-Review as well as other websites claiming to have a copy of the actual script. They would slowly over the span of several weeks release small tidbits of the film through their websites from this copy of the script. They included Amanda Waller making an appearance as well references to the second and now deceased Robin Jason Todd.

We at Superhero Movie News ended up getting our hands on the script and pointed out how it's not authentic one bit. Movieweb then went onto claim that this "fake" script was specifically made by Warner Brothers to throw the scoopers off the sent of the actual script in production. They even go as far as to claim Kevin Smith (Huge DC fan and friend of Ben Affleck) was the one hired to pen this fake screenplay. Later Kevin Smith ended up coming out to debunk the idea that he penned the script but pointed to a Twitter account by the name @SonOfArrogance who said he was the one who made the script in less then a week.
Of course this didn't go over to well with the higher ups in the movie blogging community. While most of us laughed off getting punk'd so great by a simple fan some did not. The fan goes onto discuss the hoax with the guys from The Bible of Zack Snyder and how he ended up getting threatened because of his actions.

El Mayimbe just made a hollow threat about tracking my IP address. Nothing big. People are pissed. And funnily enough it’s mostly because of rumors of my identity. People assume I’m in deep with the studio. Others assume I’m actually part of a gossip site. So they’re mad and want answers. Truth is I’m a regular guy with a laptop.

Now while some may have been pissed at him anonymously submitting his fake script to many movie news websites. Others in the film making business took notice and realized if this fan could write a fully-fledged out screenplay in 5 short days imagine what he could do with several months to a year working for them.

If you wanted to read this fans since revised draft of his Batman vs Superman screenplay you can read it over HERE.

Now last come to last week's newest rumor regarding Batman v Superman. A random image was posted on Imgur from a user claiming  that he has seen the upcoming trailer for Batman v Superman and screengrabed the final frame which showed that the film would be split into two films. Part I Enter the Knight debuting October 23rd while Part II Dawn of Justice still debuting in March 2016:
I have an iPhone video of the teaser trailer (it has updated since, but close with most things), and no, I will never distribute it, but I will offer this screen shot.
Of course the internet went insane with the prospect that WB would secretly release Part I of Batman v Superman without any promotion or announcement of any kind. Of course this also would be debunked as nothing more then someone with minimal Photoshop skills punking the internet....again. Here is John Campea of AMC Movie News ranting about how many movie news websites ran this story as legitimate news without any proof to support it:

Now while he does get pretty emotional on this rumor he is completely correct. We as movie bloggers and film journalists are the problem when it comes to reporting on all the rumors and speculation that we find on the internet. Remember the joke "If it's on the internet it must be true" well that applies to us as well. We all are fighting to get more hits then the next website but we forget that it comes with a price...and that's confusing and misinforming our readers. We need to be more diligent in fact checking and having supporting sources for all the rumors that can and will be posted online. And with a multitude of comic book movies coming out from now until 2020 the rumors will be even more outrageous...

Will the 'Batman v Superman' Trailer Finally Debut in February?

Speculation on when the trailer will drop for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has run ramped for months. First we had heard that a "Batman-centric" version of the trailer was completed late last year and could drop with The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. But it seemed WB held off releasing the trailer with that movie. Which isn't to surprising since Batman v Superman doesn't even hit until next year. Well according Projection List has listed the trailer debuting February 6th! They do also "Projected" the trailer could drop in March or April as well. Also Latino-Review has gone onto tweet that the trailer would debut with Jupiter Ascending in February.
Others have speculated that a Super Bowl TV Spot could also debut but in the past those teasers were exclusively for films debuting the same year. Of course  nothing is confirmed so keep that in mind as well...It's entirely possible Warner Brothers will hold off again and release the trailer in March which would be one year until the films theatrical release.

That's A Wrap! 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Completes Filming

Today, longtime Zack Snyder collaborator and cinematographer Larry Fong posted on Instagram that filming on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has completed after 7 months of filming. The movie stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck in Batman in this Frank Miller inspired brawl of the gods. Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Ray Fisher also appear in the film as Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg.

It should be noted that a teaser for the film has been rumored to appear before years end but that has yet to be confirmed or announced.

RUMOR: Doomsday Will Appear in 'Batman v Superman' Along With 'KGBeast'

Earlier today the guys over Badass Digest wrote a story which brought up the long rumor that Doomsday will appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Supposedly the big bad guy that will have Batman and Superman team-up after figuring out their own differences. "Let me confirm for you that Doomsday is in the film" The site then goes onto reveal that villain KGBeast will also make a minor appearance but as his human name Anatoli Knyazev and will be hired by Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg): "making his dark agenda a reality, an agenda that includes keeping an eye on all metahumans, mainly a woman who walks the streets today but who is seen in pictures from the 1800s. A wonder woman, you might say." This would go along the lines of Bleeding Cool's scoop that the first Wonder Woman film may end up being a period piece. We didn't cover that story because of how outlandish it sounded but this new story corroborates that one. Lastly, the site adds that Superman in this universe is aware of The Joker (Now announced as Jared Leto) but he will not be showing up in Batman v Superman.

Batman-Centered 'Dawn of Justice' Teaser Trailer Ready To Be Released?

Today Batman-on-Film released a small nugget that Warner Brothers has recently completed a "Batman Heavy" teaser trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:

According to a few of BOF’s BvS insiders, the first teaser trailer for the film is complete and ready to go. The overt hint I got from these folks is that the teaser will be revealed this Fall along with a November or December film release (and online, of course). I have no idea to which specific film it may be “attached,” but New Line’s (which is Warner Bros.’ sister company) THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES is being released on December 17, 2014.

By the way Batman fans, I’ve heard that this teaser is “Batman heavy.”
It's possible the trailer may drop as early as two weeks with Christopher Nolans highly anticipated Interstellar as well as Warner Brothers Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies which is out in December. Of course with this only being a rumor don't get your hopes up to high....

CONFIRMED: DC Comics Is Creating A DC Cinematic Multi-Verse with Film & TV!

The question of this day in age in comic film or TV adaptions is are they all connected? Marvel has done it first literally connecting their movies with television and soon netflix shows like Daredevil all into one massive shared universe. So the question remained will DC do the same thing? This is something that has plagued DC fans since Arrow lit up the small screen on The CW. Will Stephen Amell's Arrow ever meet up with Henry Cavill's Superman? Well at this past year's Comic-Con it seemed DC head Geoff Johns put that theory to rest that Arrow & it's spin-off show The Flash are in a separate universe than Henry Cavill and Ben Afflecks Batman & Superman. But was he lying? He was and he wasn't.

Today, Geoff Johns spoke with BuzzFeed to confirm that DC is trying to actual create a cinematic multiverse!
“We look at it as the multiverse. We have our TV universe and our film universe, but they all co-exist. For us, creatively, it’s about allowing everyone to make the best possible product, to tell the best story, to do the best world. Everyone has a vision and you really want to let the visions shine through. I think the characters are iconic enough. I like [Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.] a lot. I love what Marvel does. I’m a huge fan. It’s just a different approach.”
Now for some of you who don't know DC had a multiverse with multiple "earths". That means one superhero may live their whole life in one universe and have a slightly different version on the second earth. Or one superhero maybe one person on Earth-1 but on Earth-2 the mantle is taken up by someone else like Jay Garrick & Barry Allen both being The Flash. And The Flash is the one who first learns of the multiverse....Which is also teased at the end of The Flash pilot episode.

Now if DC can actually pull off doing a multiverse that means while the TV & Film universe are connected they are separate at the same time. What ever happens on film won't dictate what happens on TV and vice-versa. So the writers still have creative freedom and aren't held down by each others contradicting storylines. That is until DC finally pulls out their wild card and does a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie which will have all the universes collide into one another.  But this type of massive movie is obviously far down the line for DC...

So  as far as we know we have the Man of Steel Universe, the Arrow-Verse and last week Sandman creator Neil Gaiman mentions DC has yet to announce a slate of Vertigo Universe movies that are coming out like Sandman or Justice League: Dark which would give us a third universe. It's unknown where Gotham, Constantine, Lucifer, Teen Titans, Supergirl, or Static Shock fit within these universes or others.

Lastly, he adds that maybe one day they will have a crossover but not anytime soon...
"There’s been discussions over the years for both, obviously. You never say never. Maybe one day we’ll link a show to a film if it makes sense, but the creative process we’re going through right now is to let the stuff live and breathe and be its own thing and own it."

Read The Fake 'Batman vs Superman' Screenplay That Punk'd The Internet

Several months ago several news websites got a hold of what seemed to be a draft of Zack Snyder's Batman vs Superman (now titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) script. Some found it to be so authentic that they ran news story's with plot points and cameos that we would see in the film. Well it was all for nothing because the screenplay was completely fan-made. Some news sites thought that Clerks director Kevin Smith conspired with WB to purposely "leak" this fake draft online. That turned out to be false also. The real author can be found on Twitter and you can go follow him @SonOfArrogance. He has given us special permission to post said script online for all to read! This prank is definitely up there along with Justin Bieber claiming to be cast in Batman vs Superman as Robin..

Lastly, it only took him 5 days to write the first draft but has since been revised...

Jena Malone Cast in 'Batman v Superman' as...Carrie Kelly?!

Several months ago Sucker Punch alum and Hunger Games star Jena Malone was seen visiting the set of Batman v Superman. Many thought this meant she was in the film but others wrote it off as her just meeting her old friend & director of Sucker Punch Zack Snyder. Well recently she revealed to US Magazine that she had dyed her hair a bright orange. Then some news website put two-and-two together that the actress maybe playing Carrie Kelley from Mark Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. While this was a complete stretch to think that this was the case a grad student and extra on the film just recently leaked info to a local Michigan news station that a female Robin will indeed appear in the film.

This was quickly dismissed as an extra getting his 5-mintues of fame for "leaking" information on the film. Well now The Wrap has been informed this grad student is possibly being sued for $5 Million Dollars by breaching his Non-Disclosure Agreement with WB. Could what he have said is true?  It certainly seems that way because later today The Hollywood Reporter went onto confirm Jena Malone will indeed appear in the film but it's unknown as to which character:
"Jena Malone is in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cast...whether or not she is playing a female version of Batman’s erstwhile sidekick Robin, remains close to the Bat-chest."
It's still unclear who Jena Malone is playing but one thing is for sure.....she will be in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!

Batman Will Tower Over Superman in 'Dawn of Justice'; 'Wonder Woman' Origins Revealed?

Today, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice producer Charles Roven sat down for a Q & A on The Hollywood Masters. He was asked about the casting of Ben Affleck and how Affleck was one of their first chooses for this new Batman compared to Christopher Nolan's Batman. He does also reveal that Christopher Nolan still does in fact have some type of "advisory" role on Batman v Superman and even helped casting Ben Affleck. He lastly mentions how Justice League is indeed coming with this new Batman. As well as mentions that Wonder Woman will be the daughter of Zeus in this incarnation of the character. As many know this is actually The New 52 origins of the character (In which she also knows how to fly) as compared to her original origin which had her molded together in clay and brought to life by the gods.

EDITORIAL: Which Warner Brothers Directors Should Helm a DC Cinematic Universe Film?

DC and Warner Brothers are currently hard at work developing their own cinematic universe opposite longtime rival Marvel. It all started with last years smash hit Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder which got the ball rolling after the hiccup that was 2011's Green Lantern.

Now it seems Warner Brothers wants to use in-house writers to help form this cinematic universe. First it started off with The Dark Knight trilogy screenwriter David Goyer and 300's Zack Snyder creating Man of Steel. They then brought on Ben Affleck to play Batman after directing and staring in both The Town and Argo which won best picture at the Academy Awards for Warner Brothers. From there it seemed WB was adamant on using writers who are closely connected to both Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder. They started by hiring Argo writer Chris Terrio thanks to his connection with pen Affleck to pen the sequel to Man of Steel title Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. They loved his draft of the script so much (After David Goyer wrote the first draft) that they are seriously considering him to pen Justice League which will also be directed by Zack Snyder.

Then just a couple weeks ago DC announced that they had hired two separate writers to pen an Aquaman solo film. The writers would also be in house at WB and were Gangster Squad scribe Will Beall as well as 300: Rise of an Empire screenwriter Kurt Johnstad who is connected to Zack Snyder. A draft has also been confirmed by Dwayne Johnson on a Shazam solo movie but it is unknown who wrote it at this time.

But with all these writers being brought on to pen the ever growing DC Cinematic Universe what directors could take on these mighty heroes? Here is a few suggestions that are in-house at Warner Brothers but are also very talented directors in their own right...

    Aquaman

With Aquaman being the first solo film confirmed to have writers attached I thought it should be the first addressed in this editorial. Currently both Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are writing two separate scripts for the King of the Seven Seas solo movie which will star Jason Momoa. So for this I will assume they will go with Kurt Johnstad and have him re-team with his 300: Rise of an Empire director Noam Murro. Now while Noam Murro only has two feature film directing credits to his name he is an ideal chose at Warner Brothers. What he did with the navel battles in 300: Rise of an Empire was impressive coming off of a director like Zack Snyder in the original 300 film. He also now has experience with water battles as well as ancient Greek battles which would make him a perfect choose to bring Aquaman and Atlantis to life. But his ultimate challenge would be an entire film underwater and try to make it as realistic as possible without people forgetting their underwater and have the currents of the ocean floor just as real as another character on screen.

    Shazam

Shazam is going to be one of the trickiest movies Warner Brothers and DC create because of its fantastical elemnts that are so associated with the film. Because in reality their is two leads in the film playing the same character of sorts. You have the young Billy Batson (Foster Child if he is based on the New 52) who is given the power of S.H.A.Z.A.M by an ancient wizard. As well as the hero of Shazam (Possibly played by Dwayne Johnson) who is still a child like Billy Batson in an adults body. A comic book "Freaky Friday" movie of sorts. The only director who could possibly take this fantasy type movie would be David Yates! He has already directed several Harry Potter films which starred a a young protagonist in Harry Potter. With his background of Hogwarts and Wizards he would be an ideal chose to bring the Legend of Shazam to life on the big screen for Warner Brothers and DC.

    Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman seems to be a hero that just can't catch a break. She will finally be introduced on screen for the first time in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice played by Gal Gadot. But the powers that be just can't seem to wrap their brain around a female lead superhero movie and potential franchise. Now many believe that a female superhero movie can only be directed by a female director. And lets face it a female director are rare and far between in Hollywood. But I'm sure the first female director to pop into you're head is The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow. She is the first woman to win Best Director at the Academy Awards as well as having both her films be nominated for several awards. Now while should would be the ideal chose for such a break through film like Wonder Woman lets face it. She will never come near a comic book movie after her success with war-time films even though everyone on earth wants her to do Wonder Woman because it just feels right.

A great second chose would be Guy Richie who has directed such great films like Snatch as well as the upcoming re-telling of King Arthur for Warner Brothers. With a fantasy film like King Arthur under his belt he would bring that to a film that tells the origins of Themyscira and Princess Diana. Plus, with his famous opening credit sequence who doesn't love Guy Richie?

    Green Lantern

Green Lantern had a bit of a hiccup back in 2011. Not that the origin story of Hal Jordon was wrong or that Ryan Reynolds was terrible in the role. It was simply that the script was all over the place because of "to many cooks in the kitchen". They tried to make Green Lantern a little to comic book-y with his cheesy one-liners and what not throughout the film. Not to say Green Lantern needs to be 100% serious but his one-liners is what drove fans away from the film. Not to mention the space cloud villain but lets not get into that.

So where does Warner Brothers go from here with the character? Last rumor we heard was that he will not be making an appearance in Dawn of Justice but will indeed have a role in Justice League presumably played by a new actor. When his eventual spin-off comes whether its a re-telling of his origin or simply another adventure for him to go on a great director for the project would be none other then Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron. Cuaron has been a staple director at WB for a while also directing one of the Harry Potter films but it was last years Gravity that put him at the spotlight for space epic films. It wasn't just how realistic he made space feel in Gravity but how Space itself was another character in the film. That's exactly what a movie like Green Lantern needs. With a film practically all in space we need a director with a keen eye on how space actually works to helm a project like this. Plus it helps that Gravity won seven academy awards for Warner Brothers including best Visual Effects and Cuaron winning Best Director.

    The Flash

The Flash is one of the few DC characters that simply is meant to be a comedy. A movie like The Flash will basically be the opposite of all the other Dc movies who have taken a dark and serious approach to all their films. Now recently their have been rumblings that Warner Brothers seem to have a "Zero Joke Tolerance" for the upcoming DC films but The Flash needs to be the exception. Beside the dark elements that Barry Allen lost his mother at a very young age he has always been the comic relief of the Justice League. Constantly memorized by all the heroes even though he is one of them he is simply a "fan-girl" when he actually gets to meet the other Leaguers.

Now there are also rumors that he is expected to make a cameo in Dawn of Justice with but it won't be by an actor. So if and when DC decides to make a solo Flash film (Opposite it's already established Flash TV Show starring Grant Gustin) what director or director's should helm this project. None other than the hottest duo directors in Hollywood Phil Lord & Chris Miller. They have four feature films under their belt all being massive hits from both the kid friendly comedy's Cloudy With a Chance of meatballs as well as The LEGO Movie. They also have the action comedy down with the hard R Jump Street films. Now as you saw in The Lego Movie they are nerds and brought the Justice League into their movie with batman already playing a prominent role. It's only a matter of time before they direct a live-action feature film. They quickly passed on Marvel's Ant-Man at one time so maybe it's time for Warner Brothers to repay the duo on their success with The Lego Movie and let them direct a DC Cinematic Universe film. And The Flash seems to be a perfect match for this young hot directing team.

    The Batman

After Ben Affleck directed and starred in both The Town as well as Best picture winning film Argo he signed up to play Batman for the foreseeable future. Most suspect in his contract with Warner Brothers and WB he would get a solo Batman film as well. It only seems logical that he would also direct this new Batman film as well as star. Zack Snyder is hard at work establishing this new Batman in Dawn of Justice but it will be Affleck who will bring this Dark Knight back to the screens in an entire new way then what we saw in Christopher Nolans Dark Knight Trilogy.

    Superman

Zack Snyder is the last director who will return after helming Man of Steel to do the first Justice League film in 2017/2018 but he may also want to return for another Superman adventure starring Henry Cavill. With DC films being slated through 2020 a solo Superman movie may actually happen after all.

RUMOR: Scoot McNairy Playing A Paraplegic Jimmy Olsen in 'Batman v Superman'?!

Last week set photos were revealed showcasing actor Scoot McNairy with what seems to be green screen'd legs used for CGI in post production on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Many jumped to the conclusions that he was the long rumored Justice Leaguer The Flash and that his legs were going to be CG'd to show his fast running ability. This was odd considering both Quicksilvers in Days of Future Past and The Avengers: Age of Ultron never used something like this on their actors lightning showcasing fast running. Then Scoot McNairy revealed that he hopes to be apart of the DC Cinematic Universe for a very long time.

Now an unknown website by the name of The Devil Eyes has reportedly gotten the scoop from an extra on set that Scoot McNariy is actually playing a crippled Jimmy Olsen:
"Scoot is playing Jimmy Olsen, but with a bit of a twist. Jimmy was injured during the battle of Zod vs Superman. His legs where pinned under falling building rubble and that caused him to lose the legs. He now walks with the use of two prosthetic legs. [But] He doesn't blame Superman for it [his loss of legs]. He feels grateful that Superman saved the world."
Now given that this site has never posted scoops before chalk this up as a rumor. But it seems like a very plausible rumor. Also, some of you may remember that Jenny Olsen (Unknown if she is related to Jimmy) was already an intern of The Daily Planet in Man of Steel.

DC Comics Anounnces 9 Untitled Films Through 2020

It seems DC finally has a plan! Last month Nikki Finkie dropped the scoop that a slew of DC movies where coming out of the woodwork. Including Shazam and a Green Lantern/Flash team-up and claimed they would be announced at Comic-Con several weeks ago.
"Shazam (July 2016), Sandman (Christmas 2016), Justice League (May 2017), Wonder Woman (July 2017), Flash/Green Lantern team-up (Christmas 2017), and Man of Steel 2 (May 2018)."
Well Comic-Con came and went with not even a hint of their future plans. Finkie went onto claim that DC was upset the information leaked and simply wimped out of the announcement. It certainly seemed she was just covering her own failed scoop. Well, maybe she wasn't wrong afterall...

The Wrap just announced that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has moved up from May 2016 to March 25th, 2016. They go onto to announce 9 untitled feature films coming out of DC with 2 additional "WB event films"!
    Untitled DC Film  - 08/05/16
    Untitled DC Film  - 06/23/17
    Untitled DC Film  - 11/17/17
    Untitled DC Film  - 03/23/18
    Untitled DC Film  - 07/27/18
Untitled WB Event Film - 11/16/18
    Untitled DC Film  - 04/05/19
    Untitled DC Film  - 06/14/19
    Untitled DC Film  - 04/03/20
    Untitled DC Film  - 06/19/20
Untitled WB Event Film - 11/20/20
If the WB Event Film is a Justice League team-up that means they moved the date from 2017 to 2018. But it is unknown at this time what these "WB Event Films" are....Some are speculating they are for the Harry Potter spin-offs Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them
So far the actors in this great DC Cinematic Universe is Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Dwayne Johnson in an unknown role (Most likely Shazam)

Other possible DC films include Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Sandman and Guillermo del Toro's Justice League: Dark but it's unknown if these supernatural films will be in the DCCU. On top of all the solo films rumored...
