Tyrese Gibson Campaigns For Future 'Green Lantern' Role

News on the DC Cinematic Universe Green Lantern has been practically non-existent beside the initial announcement of a solo film coming in 2020. We don't know if DC will reboot again with a new Hal Jordan after Ryan Reynolds played the character in 2011 or if a new Lantern will be brought into the Justice League. Well, Fast & Furious star Tyrese Gibson has taken to his official Instagram account to tease a fanart image of him as John Stewart the second Green Lantern. Could he be teasing that he has been in talks with DC about the role or just be campaigning for the role like so many other actors seem to do these days. He obviously got the idea from his Fast & Furious co-stars Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel...

CONFIRMED: DC Comics Is Creating A DC Cinematic Multi-Verse with Film & TV!

The question of this day in age in comic film or TV adaptions is are they all connected? Marvel has done it first literally connecting their movies with television and soon netflix shows like Daredevil all into one massive shared universe. So the question remained will DC do the same thing? This is something that has plagued DC fans since Arrow lit up the small screen on The CW. Will Stephen Amell's Arrow ever meet up with Henry Cavill's Superman? Well at this past year's Comic-Con it seemed DC head Geoff Johns put that theory to rest that Arrow & it's spin-off show The Flash are in a separate universe than Henry Cavill and Ben Afflecks Batman & Superman. But was he lying? He was and he wasn't.

Today, Geoff Johns spoke with BuzzFeed to confirm that DC is trying to actual create a cinematic multiverse!
“We look at it as the multiverse. We have our TV universe and our film universe, but they all co-exist. For us, creatively, it’s about allowing everyone to make the best possible product, to tell the best story, to do the best world. Everyone has a vision and you really want to let the visions shine through. I think the characters are iconic enough. I like [Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.] a lot. I love what Marvel does. I’m a huge fan. It’s just a different approach.”
Now for some of you who don't know DC had a multiverse with multiple "earths". That means one superhero may live their whole life in one universe and have a slightly different version on the second earth. Or one superhero maybe one person on Earth-1 but on Earth-2 the mantle is taken up by someone else like Jay Garrick & Barry Allen both being The Flash. And The Flash is the one who first learns of the multiverse....Which is also teased at the end of The Flash pilot episode.

Now if DC can actually pull off doing a multiverse that means while the TV & Film universe are connected they are separate at the same time. What ever happens on film won't dictate what happens on TV and vice-versa. So the writers still have creative freedom and aren't held down by each others contradicting storylines. That is until DC finally pulls out their wild card and does a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie which will have all the universes collide into one another.  But this type of massive movie is obviously far down the line for DC...

So  as far as we know we have the Man of Steel Universe, the Arrow-Verse and last week Sandman creator Neil Gaiman mentions DC has yet to announce a slate of Vertigo Universe movies that are coming out like Sandman or Justice League: Dark which would give us a third universe. It's unknown where Gotham, Constantine, Lucifer, Teen Titans, Supergirl, or Static Shock fit within these universes or others.

Lastly, he adds that maybe one day they will have a crossover but not anytime soon...
"There’s been discussions over the years for both, obviously. You never say never. Maybe one day we’ll link a show to a film if it makes sense, but the creative process we’re going through right now is to let the stuff live and breathe and be its own thing and own it."

'Arrow' Star Stephen Amell Wants 'Green Lantern' To Appear In The "Arrow-Verse"

Now Green Lantern has been a talk on Arrow since season one when Ferris Air first made its appearance. Their have been talk that Oliver Queens trusty friend John Diggle could possibly be the future Green Lantern known as John Stewart but in the service his friends simply called him "Diggle" thus the name stuck. Well, either way Arrow star himself Stephen Amell hopes Green Lantern either John Stewart or Hal Jordan to appear on the show! While speaking with Comic Book Resources the actor first goes into claiming Arrow is creating it's own "Justice League" and doesn't need to crossover over into the cinematic universe:
"We are creating our own Justice League on TV for us. I don't think there is a logistical reality to us participating in the feature side. That being said, I never wanted to have to feel like the show was justified, just because we participated in the movie. I don't think my character would participate on the cinematic side. What's that saying? Is it six seasons and a movie? Our show right now has me, Arsenal, Flash. There's going to be Firestorm and Atom. The Justice League elements of it are very present on our shows ['Arrow' and 'The Flash'] already."
He then goes onto talk about how he knew his cousin Robbie Amell was going to get the gig on The Flash show as Firestorm:
"[Greg Berlanti] told me about Robbie and Firestorm about two months before Robbie knew about it. Robbie texts me and goes, 'I GOT A JOB ON 'THE FLASH!'' All capitals and exclamation marks. I wrote back, 'I know,' and then welcomed him to the Justice League of America. Robbie and I, for being in the same business, the only time we've ever teamed up is in beer pong. We've never actually teamed up on screen together. I think eventually there's a chance that Oliver Queen and Mr. Firestorm may cross paths."
Then lastly says that he would love for Green Lantern to appear on TV even though it is probably prohibited by the higher ups at WB "Now, boy we've referenced Ferris Air a lot. It would be really cool to have Green Lantern. Hopefully, that happens. I have no inside information, unless I do."

EDITORIAL: Which Warner Brothers Directors Should Helm a DC Cinematic Universe Film?

DC and Warner Brothers are currently hard at work developing their own cinematic universe opposite longtime rival Marvel. It all started with last years smash hit Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder which got the ball rolling after the hiccup that was 2011's Green Lantern.

Now it seems Warner Brothers wants to use in-house writers to help form this cinematic universe. First it started off with The Dark Knight trilogy screenwriter David Goyer and 300's Zack Snyder creating Man of Steel. They then brought on Ben Affleck to play Batman after directing and staring in both The Town and Argo which won best picture at the Academy Awards for Warner Brothers. From there it seemed WB was adamant on using writers who are closely connected to both Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder. They started by hiring Argo writer Chris Terrio thanks to his connection with pen Affleck to pen the sequel to Man of Steel title Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. They loved his draft of the script so much (After David Goyer wrote the first draft) that they are seriously considering him to pen Justice League which will also be directed by Zack Snyder.

Then just a couple weeks ago DC announced that they had hired two separate writers to pen an Aquaman solo film. The writers would also be in house at WB and were Gangster Squad scribe Will Beall as well as 300: Rise of an Empire screenwriter Kurt Johnstad who is connected to Zack Snyder. A draft has also been confirmed by Dwayne Johnson on a Shazam solo movie but it is unknown who wrote it at this time.

But with all these writers being brought on to pen the ever growing DC Cinematic Universe what directors could take on these mighty heroes? Here is a few suggestions that are in-house at Warner Brothers but are also very talented directors in their own right...

    Aquaman

With Aquaman being the first solo film confirmed to have writers attached I thought it should be the first addressed in this editorial. Currently both Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are writing two separate scripts for the King of the Seven Seas solo movie which will star Jason Momoa. So for this I will assume they will go with Kurt Johnstad and have him re-team with his 300: Rise of an Empire director Noam Murro. Now while Noam Murro only has two feature film directing credits to his name he is an ideal chose at Warner Brothers. What he did with the navel battles in 300: Rise of an Empire was impressive coming off of a director like Zack Snyder in the original 300 film. He also now has experience with water battles as well as ancient Greek battles which would make him a perfect choose to bring Aquaman and Atlantis to life. But his ultimate challenge would be an entire film underwater and try to make it as realistic as possible without people forgetting their underwater and have the currents of the ocean floor just as real as another character on screen.

    Shazam

Shazam is going to be one of the trickiest movies Warner Brothers and DC create because of its fantastical elemnts that are so associated with the film. Because in reality their is two leads in the film playing the same character of sorts. You have the young Billy Batson (Foster Child if he is based on the New 52) who is given the power of S.H.A.Z.A.M by an ancient wizard. As well as the hero of Shazam (Possibly played by Dwayne Johnson) who is still a child like Billy Batson in an adults body. A comic book "Freaky Friday" movie of sorts. The only director who could possibly take this fantasy type movie would be David Yates! He has already directed several Harry Potter films which starred a a young protagonist in Harry Potter. With his background of Hogwarts and Wizards he would be an ideal chose to bring the Legend of Shazam to life on the big screen for Warner Brothers and DC.

    Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman seems to be a hero that just can't catch a break. She will finally be introduced on screen for the first time in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice played by Gal Gadot. But the powers that be just can't seem to wrap their brain around a female lead superhero movie and potential franchise. Now many believe that a female superhero movie can only be directed by a female director. And lets face it a female director are rare and far between in Hollywood. But I'm sure the first female director to pop into you're head is The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow. She is the first woman to win Best Director at the Academy Awards as well as having both her films be nominated for several awards. Now while should would be the ideal chose for such a break through film like Wonder Woman lets face it. She will never come near a comic book movie after her success with war-time films even though everyone on earth wants her to do Wonder Woman because it just feels right.

A great second chose would be Guy Richie who has directed such great films like Snatch as well as the upcoming re-telling of King Arthur for Warner Brothers. With a fantasy film like King Arthur under his belt he would bring that to a film that tells the origins of Themyscira and Princess Diana. Plus, with his famous opening credit sequence who doesn't love Guy Richie?

    Green Lantern

Green Lantern had a bit of a hiccup back in 2011. Not that the origin story of Hal Jordon was wrong or that Ryan Reynolds was terrible in the role. It was simply that the script was all over the place because of "to many cooks in the kitchen". They tried to make Green Lantern a little to comic book-y with his cheesy one-liners and what not throughout the film. Not to say Green Lantern needs to be 100% serious but his one-liners is what drove fans away from the film. Not to mention the space cloud villain but lets not get into that.

So where does Warner Brothers go from here with the character? Last rumor we heard was that he will not be making an appearance in Dawn of Justice but will indeed have a role in Justice League presumably played by a new actor. When his eventual spin-off comes whether its a re-telling of his origin or simply another adventure for him to go on a great director for the project would be none other then Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron. Cuaron has been a staple director at WB for a while also directing one of the Harry Potter films but it was last years Gravity that put him at the spotlight for space epic films. It wasn't just how realistic he made space feel in Gravity but how Space itself was another character in the film. That's exactly what a movie like Green Lantern needs. With a film practically all in space we need a director with a keen eye on how space actually works to helm a project like this. Plus it helps that Gravity won seven academy awards for Warner Brothers including best Visual Effects and Cuaron winning Best Director.

    The Flash

The Flash is one of the few DC characters that simply is meant to be a comedy. A movie like The Flash will basically be the opposite of all the other Dc movies who have taken a dark and serious approach to all their films. Now recently their have been rumblings that Warner Brothers seem to have a "Zero Joke Tolerance" for the upcoming DC films but The Flash needs to be the exception. Beside the dark elements that Barry Allen lost his mother at a very young age he has always been the comic relief of the Justice League. Constantly memorized by all the heroes even though he is one of them he is simply a "fan-girl" when he actually gets to meet the other Leaguers.

Now there are also rumors that he is expected to make a cameo in Dawn of Justice with but it won't be by an actor. So if and when DC decides to make a solo Flash film (Opposite it's already established Flash TV Show starring Grant Gustin) what director or director's should helm this project. None other than the hottest duo directors in Hollywood Phil Lord & Chris Miller. They have four feature films under their belt all being massive hits from both the kid friendly comedy's Cloudy With a Chance of meatballs as well as The LEGO Movie. They also have the action comedy down with the hard R Jump Street films. Now as you saw in The Lego Movie they are nerds and brought the Justice League into their movie with batman already playing a prominent role. It's only a matter of time before they direct a live-action feature film. They quickly passed on Marvel's Ant-Man at one time so maybe it's time for Warner Brothers to repay the duo on their success with The Lego Movie and let them direct a DC Cinematic Universe film. And The Flash seems to be a perfect match for this young hot directing team.

    The Batman

After Ben Affleck directed and starred in both The Town as well as Best picture winning film Argo he signed up to play Batman for the foreseeable future. Most suspect in his contract with Warner Brothers and WB he would get a solo Batman film as well. It only seems logical that he would also direct this new Batman film as well as star. Zack Snyder is hard at work establishing this new Batman in Dawn of Justice but it will be Affleck who will bring this Dark Knight back to the screens in an entire new way then what we saw in Christopher Nolans Dark Knight Trilogy.

    Superman

Zack Snyder is the last director who will return after helming Man of Steel to do the first Justice League film in 2017/2018 but he may also want to return for another Superman adventure starring Henry Cavill. With DC films being slated through 2020 a solo Superman movie may actually happen after all.

'Green Lantern' & ' Shazam' Won't Appear in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

Yesterday, some new set images from the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice debuted showing off Tao Okomota, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy. What's interesting with Scoot McNairy's photos is that he is wearing green legged socks that would indicate his legs will be CG'ed into something else. You could say they may erase them like for a paraplegic part but some are simply speculating that it maybe for The Flash?

We already know that The Flash is expected to have some type of cameo in the film. But now Badass Digest has gotten word of all the Justice Leaguers we will indeed see in the film leading into the Justice League! The lineup includes:

    Superman (Henry Cavill)
    Batman (Ben Affleck)
    Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot)
    Aquaman (Jason Momoa)
    Cyborg (Ray Fisher)
    The Flash (TBA)

They go onto reveal that the Green Lantern (Unknown if it's Hal Jordan or John Stewart) won't appear until the Justice League movie. This list also indicates that Shazam (Possibly Dwayne Johnson) won't appear with the League until a later date.

DC Comics Anounnces 9 Untitled Films Through 2020

It seems DC finally has a plan! Last month Nikki Finkie dropped the scoop that a slew of DC movies where coming out of the woodwork. Including Shazam and a Green Lantern/Flash team-up and claimed they would be announced at Comic-Con several weeks ago.
"Shazam (July 2016), Sandman (Christmas 2016), Justice League (May 2017), Wonder Woman (July 2017), Flash/Green Lantern team-up (Christmas 2017), and Man of Steel 2 (May 2018)."
Well Comic-Con came and went with not even a hint of their future plans. Finkie went onto claim that DC was upset the information leaked and simply wimped out of the announcement. It certainly seemed she was just covering her own failed scoop. Well, maybe she wasn't wrong afterall...

The Wrap just announced that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has moved up from May 2016 to March 25th, 2016. They go onto to announce 9 untitled feature films coming out of DC with 2 additional "WB event films"!
    Untitled DC Film  - 08/05/16
    Untitled DC Film  - 06/23/17
    Untitled DC Film  - 11/17/17
    Untitled DC Film  - 03/23/18
    Untitled DC Film  - 07/27/18
Untitled WB Event Film - 11/16/18
    Untitled DC Film  - 04/05/19
    Untitled DC Film  - 06/14/19
    Untitled DC Film  - 04/03/20
    Untitled DC Film  - 06/19/20
Untitled WB Event Film - 11/20/20
If the WB Event Film is a Justice League team-up that means they moved the date from 2017 to 2018. But it is unknown at this time what these "WB Event Films" are....Some are speculating they are for the Harry Potter spin-offs Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them
So far the actors in this great DC Cinematic Universe is Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Dwayne Johnson in an unknown role (Most likely Shazam)

Other possible DC films include Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Sandman and Guillermo del Toro's Justice League: Dark but it's unknown if these supernatural films will be in the DCCU. On top of all the solo films rumored...

Geoff Johns Confirms 'Arrow' Universe and 'Batman v Superman' Universe Are Separate

TV Guide has been updating all day from the yearly Television Critics Association panel. Today it has been officially announced by DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns that the Arrow/Flash universe on The CW will indeed stays separate from the Zack Snyder Batman v Superman universe in the movies. The reason being pretty obvious; that they don't want the TV writers to be a slave to the movie universe:
"You'll see a lot of DC universe characters [on The Flash and Arrow]. You won't see Batman or Superman. We're on production on Batman V Superman now. So you'll see characters like The Atom or Firestorm, but no not Batman or Superman right now [on TV]. It's a separate universe than film so that the filmmakers can tell the story that's best for film. While we explore something different in a different corner of the DC universe. We will not be integrating the film and television universes."
I think we all pretty much figured this. So expect a different Flash and Green Arrow if they ever end up in the Justice League made by director Zack Snyder.

Now I will point out just because Arrow won't be connected to Batman v Superman does not mean Stephen Amell and by extension Grant Gustin (The Flash) can't be in the Justice League. Now hear me out.....What is one of the most famous comic events DC has put out? Crisis on Infinite Earths. Basically their is multiple earths, with multiple characters just on different paths in the comic worlds. So hypothetically speaking if Zack Snyder wanted Amell and Gustin to play Arrow and The Flash in Justice League he could. They would simply be playing another version of Arrow and Flash in a separate universe! While still playing another version on TV. But that's just a fans dream on something will will probably never happen...

Kevin Smith Confirms DC Cinematic Universe Titles Line-Up

Several days ago legendary entertainment reporter Nikki Finkie dropped her very first scoop of a life-time after departing from Deadline. It included the line-up release dates and titles of all the DC Cinematic Universe movies starting from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 all the way through to 2018.
"Shazam (July 2016), Sandman (Christmas 2016), Justice League (May 2017), Wonder Woman (July 2017), Flash/Green Lantern team-up (Christmas 2017), and Man of Steel 2 (May 2018)."
Now while on the recent SModcast Hollywood Babble-On podcast  Kevin Smith actually goes onto admit he has known about the DC line-up for a while but wasn't allowed to say anything! If some of you are questioning Kevin Smith and his information. Now he also does confirm the titles he doesn't actually confirm the release dates which does seem a bit crazy having 3 films per year. Director Zack Snyder personally gave him a glimpse at Ben Afflevcks upcoming Bat-suit all the way last August. Then when the suit was finally revealed a couple weeks back he went onto mention something about how all the DC movies stories will connect. Now most of us took this as an obvious "Well Duh" moment but it's because he knew what was going on for a while. It really seems that Warner Brothers CEO Kevin Tsujihara is leading the charge in this DC universe and it should be very exciting!

He goes onto talk about the DC scoop at the 1 Hour 27 Minutes Mark...

Ryan Reynolds Won't Be Asked To Return as 'Green Lantern' For 'Justice League'

Today, Nikki Finkie dropped a potentially massive scoop on the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe post-Batman v Superman in 2016. She revealed possible and still yet unconfirmed dates for the upcoming DC solo films like Shazam and Wonder Woman. Now one of the movies she mentioned was an upcoming Flash/Green Lantern team-up film! While this is all very exciting she does onto reveal that Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, X-Men Origins) will not be returning to the role of Hal Jordan. This shouldn't be such a big deal considering he has gone on record to having 'very little' interest in the Justice League...

This all comes after The Flash script written by Green Lantern and Arrow scribes Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim featured a post credit scene featuring Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern. This was actually suppose to kick-start the DC universe but was scrapped and re-booted yet again with Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.

Now the real question is will we get a full reboot with a brand new Hal Jordan in the Justice League movie and then The Flash/Green Lantern spin-off or will we get a soft-reboot with the events in 2011 Green Lantern taking place. But moving onto a new Green lantern like John Stewart, Guy Gardner or even Kyle Rayner? That remains to be seen...I happen to be like many who hope Dwayne Johnson secret DC role is John Stewart but that's just speculation.

She goes onto reveal that the most of not all of Warner Brothers plans on this new DC Cinematic Universe will be revealed at SDCC 2014 with casting announcements along with the movie announcements. Watch out Marvel...DC is looking to steal the show.

RUMOR: Warner Bro's Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman and Shazam Solo Movie Release Dates

Nikki Finkie best known for her work on the trades website Deadline has since departed from the website to begin building her very own trade website. Now one of the first exclusives to her site NikkiFinkie.com is none other than Warner Bros post-Batman V Superman plans after 2016!

According to her sources WB is moving forward with the already announced Sandman with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as well as the Shazam. The sources go onto say that a Wonder Woman solo film will happen as well as a Green Lantern/Flash team-up!
"Shazam (July 2016), Sandman (Christmas 2016), Justice League (May 2017), Wonder Woman (July 2017), Flash/Green Lantern team-up (Christmas 2017), and Man of Steel 2 (May 2018)."
She goes onto to say that a Suicide Squad and Metal Man movies have "fallen off the table" at Warner Bros. She also adds the reason why Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice switched dates from 2015 to 2016. Also adds Aquaman, Green Lantern and Flash is set to make an appearance:
"There will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern may be introduced.  And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn’t want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months."
She lastly adds that while none of these are "official" we should expect an announcement on the future of the DC Cinematic Universe this July at Comic-Con!

Lastly on that Flash/Green Lantern team-up movie. That was the plan back in 2011 when the script was written for The Flash movie that featured a post credit scene by Green Lantern. As we know the movie never panned out and the team has since moved the character for television starring Grant Gustin. But it was also revealed that Ferris airways most closely associated with Hal Jordan/Green Lantern  will be referenced  in the upcoming Flash TV Show. Wonder what all that means?

Green Lantern Easter Egg Headed to 'Arrow'!

Today, Arrow show runner and former Green Lantern scribe Marc Guggenheim released a small easter egg of an upcoming episode of Arrow. It shows Ferris Aircraft's from Green Lantern movie/comics. Does this mean we will finally see Hal Jordan team up with Oliver Queen? Probably not....but with The Flash in the Arrow-verse maybe we will see Green Lantern one day!

Also, remember last year when Colton Haynes gave an open invite to Ryan Reynolds to cameo on Arrow as Hal Jordan? One can only wish....
Arrow returns to The CW this Wednesday!

Chadwick Boseman Plays Coy When Asked About 'Black Panther'; Hints at 'Green Lantern'

Around May of last year around the time 42 was debuting the guys over at Latino-Review got word that Marvel Studios was seriously considering the star Chadwick Boseman for the role in an eventually Black Panther film. Then everything went silent on the project up until the premiere of Thor: The Dark World when Marvel head Kevin Feige assured fans Black Panther was 100% being seriously considered for a feature film.

Now BlackFilm.com spoke with the actor about the future of black superheros on screen. Of course they ended up asking if he would play Black Panther if Marvel Studios needed him...And he straight up played the "I don't know anything" game all Marvel actors seem to do:
Could you see yourself playing Black Panther?
Chadwick Boseman: I could see myself doing anything in terms of comic book, action, or anything like that. Black Panther, in particular, I’m not going to answer that.

    If not, then which character?
CB: Let me put to you this way. If it’s character driven, I’ll do it. As long as it’s character driven, I would love to do it. If it’s just you in a suit and you with powers, then it doesn’t interest me, no matter how big it is. As long as it’s character driven, I’m totally into it. If they could figure out how to do Black Panther and make it fit the original or adapt to the times we’re in now and be new and innovative and be character driven and has the sense of what the comic book is supposed to be, but not bound by it, then yes, of course, I would want to do it.
He did go onto ask Black Film if the audience wants a Black Panther film which they replayed "Yes" then he asked "What about Green Lantern?" but before they could answer the interview was over. Does he know something in both the Marvel and DC camps? He seems to be a sought after actor after his role in 42 and the upcoming James Brown biopic.

Is Dwayne Johnson Already Signed Onto a Secret DC Character?!

Yesterday, Dwayne Johnson was at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to promote the new trailer for his up coming film Hercules. Comic Book Resources spoke with the actor about Hercules but of course the attention switched to that rumor from last year that Dwayne Johnson would be appearing in a future DC role. He started out talking about his interest in DC:
"So, you know, there’s been mutual interest with myself and DC for many years to find the right character. I, like everyone here in the room, love superheroes. So there’s been mutual interest with us for years, and we’ve been having ongoing discussions, myself and DC, for years about the right character, what the right character would be. That’s another thing, too: It had to be right."
When the site went to press harder on what character it could be the actor cryptically gave three hints:
"The first quality we were looking for was that he had to be extremely complex and have a lot going on. What that does for me as an actor and the studio is it gives us space that we can explore; his complexities. The other quality was that he had to – the character we were looking for had to be well-known but never brought to life. Then what that does again as an actor, it gives me a little bit of space, and we talked about personality. It just gives me a chance to put an imprint into his personality, with the set of tools that I could bring to the table and put a very unique twist on his personality, but still pay homage to who he is. The third thing – and most important – is he had to be a badass motherfucker, OK, and on a Superman level of power, where [he] could throw down. In those three qualities, I’m happy we’ve found that character."
Now many fans think he maybe the evil Darkseid in a future Justice League Film. While others are hoping he takes up the mantle of Green Lantern as the famous John Stewart. Lest we forget he hinted John Stewart could kick Supermans ass several months ago!

Never-the-less it sounds as if the actor has already signed on for a role with DC....the question is who?!

    :: Mini Update :: -
Collider was also speaking to Dwayne Johnson about the DC character he was playing. They asked if we will get an announcement by Comic Con in which he replied:
Yeah, I think time, man! We need to find a writer. When is that, June? July? Yeah, possibly. So how about that?”
They also went onto ask if he might cameo in another DC film like Batman vs Superman which Johnson replied "Possibly but they [WB] haven't discussed it"

DC Cinematic Universe Entire Timeline Including 'Arrow' and 'Gotham' TV Shows

Many fans have wondered the ultimate DC question. Will The CW's Arrow and Flash be connected to the events of Man of Steel and eventually Batman vs Superman? Now there is both great and terrible reasons why these should or should not be connected. Timeline issues, CW actors on film, continuity ect ect.

Well with all that put aside here is what I believe is a correct representation of the timeline of events that could take place IF DC ever decided to connect CW's The Flash/Arrow to Man of Steel/Batman vs Superman....even through in FOX's upcoming Gotham prequel into the mix as well. (Gotham will not be connected to any other show/movie but was added just because)

This is all based on the current Arrow timeline starting in 2012. Arrow will be working in real time to our timeline with the other events built around it. This is also based on the little information we have on Batman vs Superman. With Batman being an old withered crime fighter long before Superman ect etc.

Did The Rock Hint At 'Green Lantern' Months Ago?

Hello ladies and gentlemen, how are you doing today? Hopefully you are all doing well. Onto business, what is WB's cooking up with the DC Cinematic Universe? We've had some big DC film news about their upcoming Superman/Batman movie lately. As you may know, the film is delayed. It was set to be released on July 17th, 2015 but is now being released on May 6th, 2016. Also yesterday it was announced that Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg will play Superman's arch enemy and the main villain, Lex Luthor. Also announced was that actor Jeremy Irons will play Batman's faithful butler, Alfred, in the upcoming film. Now while there may be more roles that will be announced about the film, this bit of news doesn't really have anything to do with Superman/Batman. This bit of news could tell us about the future of the Green Lantern film franchise and what Green Lantern could be in a Justice League movie and who could play it.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been connected to DC films in the past. He at one time was set to play Lobo but the film didn't happen as we all know. He is a fan favorite for Black Adam and has said he would love to play Captain Marvel (or Shazam in the New 52) arch enemy. Now it was recently announced by the man himself that the Rock is working on a DC film. A month ago, the Rock tweeted this:

We all were wondering who could the Rock play if he's involved in a DC film? Well a couple days after the Rock's tweet, writer Peter Georgiu of ThinkMcFlyThink tweeted this:

Now let's back his theory up some. On May 17th, 2012, The Rock responded to a fan who said he could see the Rock playing in a DC film as Gravedigger or John Stewart. The Rock wasn't tagged in the tweet at all. He just randomly responded to it. Here is the Tweet:

Then on June 3rd, 2012, the Rock replied to a fan's tweet who had a question  for the Rock. The fan asked which DC or Marvel characters would the Rock what to play on the big screen. Here is the Tweet and the Rock's response:

Ok so we do know that the Rock is working on a DC film and is interested in playing John Stewart. Is it confirmed? Not 100% yet. Maybe 75%ish but not 100%. This next item on here could prove that the Rock will be playing John Stewart. About 3 months ago, the Rock posted a photo on Instagram. Here is that photo and link:

Here is what the Rock posted with that photo:

Known this beast since he was 15. I was on the football field playing for Miami, he was leading the Hurricanes marching band as Drum Major. He spent years of working on my WWE story lines & Rock monologues. Then years of being on every movie set with me learning the film business from top to bottom. Today, he's one of the best and most sought after producers in Hollywood. Brilliant, relentless and one big motherf*cker! Proud of you brother & thank you for all the hard work.#ProducerHiram #TeamRock#JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansAss

If you read, one of the hashtags to the photo is #JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansAss. One could say that the Rock has confirmed himself to play the Green Lantern, John Stewart, in a upcoming DC film by posting that. I'm not going to say it's officially confirmed but it is very likely it could happen.

I'm just saying that if I was a betting man, it's all but officially confirmed in a statement by WB that Dwayne Johnson will be playing the Green Lantern John Stewart in a DC film. With how crowded Superman/Batman is, I don't think Dwayne will be Green Lantern in that movie. It is likely he will be Green Lantern in a Justice League film and possibly in a Green Lantern solo film but not Superman/Batman.

It's also important to note that for the past couple of years, the Rock has been reviving movie franchises in which the previous movie wasn't well received and hasn't done well in the box office and has given them new life. GI Joe: Rise of Cobra wasn't a great film and the film failed to double it's budget in sales. It''s budget was $175 million and made just over $302 million. Dwayne starred in it's sequel, GI Joe: Retaliation. The film didn't do that much better critically than the first film, but critics did say it is still better than the first, the sequel still made more than the first film. GI Joe: Retaliation had a budget of $130 million and made just over $375 million, nearly tripling it's budget. Now let's talk about the Fast & Furious franchise. In Fast & Furious, the film wasn't critically well received at all only scoring only a 27% on Rotten Tomatoes. It had a budget of $85 million and made just over $363 million. Dwayne stars in the sequel, Fast Five, and it was very well received scoring a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes. It also had a budget of $125 million and made over $626 million. The Rock returned for another Fast & Furious sequel, Fast & Furious 6. The film critically was just below Fast Five scoring a 70% but it still well received by fans and critics. It had a budget of $160 million and made just over $788.6 million in the box office. The point is that the Rock saves franchises. We all know what a failure Martin Campbell's Green Lantern, which starred Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, was. The film got very poor reviews. Green Lantern also had a budget of $200 million and made just over $219 million.

Perhaps the Rock can save the Green Lantern franchise. Again this is not saying "yes it's been confirmed by WB that The Rock will play Green Lantern". It's just saying that there is a lot of arrows pointing at that direction in which the Rock will play John Stewart in a Justice League movie and maybe a Green Lantern movie. Fans try to picture The Rock as Green Lantern next to Henry Cavil's Superman, Ben Affleck's Batman, and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman in a Justice League movie. It is very unlikely he will be in Superman/Batman but he could be in Justice League.

What are your thoughts about this? Do you like Dwayne Johnson as John Stewart? Are you happy about this or sad? Keep in mind that whatever your feelings are, THE ROCK DOESN'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK!!! Sorry I had to do it. I will say that this can't be as shocking as hearing Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and to be honest, I think this role and it's choice makes more sense than Jesse as Lex but that's me. Comment below with your thoughts. Thank you for your time. Peace and remember....
