The CW Announces Season Renewals For 'Arrow' & 'The Flash'

Today during The CW panel at the TCA's 2015 the company officially announced that Arrow starring Stephen Amell and The Flash starring Grant Gustin have both been renewed for another season. This would be the fourth season for Arrow while only the second season for The Flash. This is also good news given that the plan is at some point to have the characters crossover with CBS's Supergirl. But that has yet to be confirmed...

    CW President Mark Pedowitz adds:
"Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience. By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season’s storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups."
Other shows that have been renewed include Supernatural, The Vampire Dairies, Reign and Jane the Virgin.

'Supergirl' Crossing Over to 'Arrow' or 'The Flash' is in Showrunner Greg Berlanti's Contract

At first glace a TV Show about Supergirl never seemed interesting at all (Then DC announced Krypton for Syfy) but at second glance it might be genius. Showrunner Greg Berlanti is forbidden to use the big three in any of his DC tv shows like Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman so it seems he is developing his own "trinity" on the small screen. It has been revealed that even though Supergirl will debut on CBS Greg Berlanti has it written in his contract that she may crossover to The CW's Arrow or Flash. This is because Time Warner (subsidiary of Warner Brothers) owns both The CW and CBS which would allow this type of crossover. Unfortunately they obviously do not own NBC or FOX which would explain why we can never see characters from Gotham or Constantine on Arrow.

Another great thing about this type of crossover would be that the "Arrow-verse" will finally get a "Superman" type character without it actually being Superman. Currently casting is underway for his Supergirl but it should be announced shortly. The question still remains if Titans on TNT will also be allowed to crossover since it to is owned by WB. It is also not even on network television which means it won't be stealing viewership from the other DC shows...beside Krypton. But that show is not being run by Greg Berlnati like these three so it might be s stretch to see Nightwing up there.

MARK HAMILL to reprise role as THE TRICKSTER on CW's THE FLASH

Mark Hamill is set to reprise his role as The Trickster on CW's The Flash, a role he had previously portrayed on the 1991 Flash series starring John Wesley Shipp.

Hamill is expected to return on the 17th episode of the current season. The official character description is as follows:

"“Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90’s ‘Flash‘ series.  In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist  con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.   The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash‘ on the CBS version."

Hamill is not the only star of the original show ready to reprise their roles. Amanda Pays will debut as Dr. Tina McGee in this week's episode "The Man In The Yellow Suit."

Showrunner Greg Berlanti Teases That 'Supergirl' Will Crossover With 'Arrow'

In the most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly (via KSiteTV) a section will be dedicated to The Flash, Arrow and upcoming Supergirl showrunner Greg Berlanti. In it the discuss his comic book shows, his failed Green Lantern movie and other projects he is over seeing. In his discussions about CBS's Supergirl he teases that Supergirl may indeed be set within the Arrow-verse alongside Stephen Amell's Arrow and Grant Gustin's The Flash:
Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of Supergirl. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it's possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash.
This actually make's perfect sense since the Man of Steel will never appear on television the Girl of Steel would be a perfect replacement.  The question is will the Teen Titans TV Show that is headed to TNT and not run by Greg Berlanti be set within the Arrow-verse?!

    Supergirl will debut on CBS

'The Flash vs. Arrow' Crossover Event Trailer [HD]

After tonight's brand new episode of The Flash a new promo was released for next week's two-night event "The Flash vs Arrow". The first part will have the duo come to blows Tuesday night December 2nd when Barry's mind gets taken over. The second part will debut Wednesday night December 3rd and will have them team up in the episode "The Brave and the Bold"

Barry (Grant Gustin) is thrilled when Oliver (guest star Stephen Amell), Felicity (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) and Diggle (guest star David Ramsey) come to Central City to investigate a case involving a deadly boomerang. Excited about teaming up with his friend, Barry asks Oliver if he’d like to help him stop Ray Bivolo (guest star Patrick Sabongui), the meta-human Barry is currently tracking. Bivolo causes people to lose control of their emotions and has been using that skill to rob banks. Unfortunately, the superhero partnership doesn’t go as smoothly as Barry expected. When Oliver tells Barry he still has a lot to learn, Barry sets out to prove him wrong by attempting to stop Bivolo alone. However, when Bivolo infects Barry and sets him on a rage rampage, everyone is in danger, and the only one who can stop him is the Arrow. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) is furious when Eddie (Rick Cosnett) tries to get a task force to stop The Flash, Joe and Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) agree the Arrow is a bad influence on Barry, and Caitlin and Cisco deal with a new team in S.T.A.R. Labs.

To the Fans of The Arrow and FLASH

Dear Readers of Superhero Movie News,

I’m writing to let you know that I am changing my focus for the episode reviews of the CW’s “The FLASH” and “ARROW.”  Where I was previously writing with a description of each scene I will now be writing with a focus on only the major plot points and an overall analysis of the character development happening in the episodes.

Why am I doing that?  Glad you asked!

First I must admit that I have a crapload of time constraints in my life right now.  It’s simply not working out to spend 4-6 hours a week in the writing of something that isn’t getting me my degree.  I have papers due which need that time.

Secondly I feel that there are already plenty of other websites out there which already do that same thing.  So if you want a scene-by-scene recap you can get one easy as pie.

Thirdly, and most importantly, I feel that I am not writing with my own voice as I should be.  I want my personal style to shine through in these episode reviews and that’s not really happening right now.

So how will this change up the episode reviews?  Well it will make them shorter!  And yet all the juicy bits will still be there.  You’ll know all about the major “aha!” moments, the character/relationship developments, and the foreshadowing which is occurring in each episode.

You’ll stay up to date on the nefarious Dr. Wells from the future and what he’s all about, what Atom might be getting himself into, and all the heartbreak which the CW is known for.  Plus you will get a dose of humor because that’s what this is all about – entertainment.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the articles to come!

    Sincerely,

    Jared Juetten

THE FLASH casts Malese Jow as Linda Park

The CW has cast Malese Jow, best known for her role on The Vampire Diaries, as Linda Park.

The Hollywood Reporter describes Linda Park as "a quick-witted reporter for the Central City Picture News" and a friend of Iris West and Barry Allen.

In the comics, Linda Park was the wife of Wally West, the third Flash. It is unknown if she will be connected with Wally in the TV-verse.

It is worth mentioning that the character has already shown up in Arrow, but was played by Olivia Cheng.

On a personal note, I'm excited to see how this character develops and I like how she has already appeared in Arrow. It's little details like cross-show character appearances that really make a shared universe. It's off to a good start.

CONFIRMED: DC Comics Is Creating A DC Cinematic Multi-Verse with Film & TV!

The question of this day in age in comic film or TV adaptions is are they all connected? Marvel has done it first literally connecting their movies with television and soon netflix shows like Daredevil all into one massive shared universe. So the question remained will DC do the same thing? This is something that has plagued DC fans since Arrow lit up the small screen on The CW. Will Stephen Amell's Arrow ever meet up with Henry Cavill's Superman? Well at this past year's Comic-Con it seemed DC head Geoff Johns put that theory to rest that Arrow & it's spin-off show The Flash are in a separate universe than Henry Cavill and Ben Afflecks Batman & Superman. But was he lying? He was and he wasn't.

Today, Geoff Johns spoke with BuzzFeed to confirm that DC is trying to actual create a cinematic multiverse!
“We look at it as the multiverse. We have our TV universe and our film universe, but they all co-exist. For us, creatively, it’s about allowing everyone to make the best possible product, to tell the best story, to do the best world. Everyone has a vision and you really want to let the visions shine through. I think the characters are iconic enough. I like [Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.] a lot. I love what Marvel does. I’m a huge fan. It’s just a different approach.”
Now for some of you who don't know DC had a multiverse with multiple "earths". That means one superhero may live their whole life in one universe and have a slightly different version on the second earth. Or one superhero maybe one person on Earth-1 but on Earth-2 the mantle is taken up by someone else like Jay Garrick & Barry Allen both being The Flash. And The Flash is the one who first learns of the multiverse....Which is also teased at the end of The Flash pilot episode.

Now if DC can actually pull off doing a multiverse that means while the TV & Film universe are connected they are separate at the same time. What ever happens on film won't dictate what happens on TV and vice-versa. So the writers still have creative freedom and aren't held down by each others contradicting storylines. That is until DC finally pulls out their wild card and does a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie which will have all the universes collide into one another.  But this type of massive movie is obviously far down the line for DC...

So  as far as we know we have the Man of Steel Universe, the Arrow-Verse and last week Sandman creator Neil Gaiman mentions DC has yet to announce a slate of Vertigo Universe movies that are coming out like Sandman or Justice League: Dark which would give us a third universe. It's unknown where Gotham, Constantine, Lucifer, Teen Titans, Supergirl, or Static Shock fit within these universes or others.

Lastly, he adds that maybe one day they will have a crossover but not anytime soon...
"There’s been discussions over the years for both, obviously. You never say never. Maybe one day we’ll link a show to a film if it makes sense, but the creative process we’re going through right now is to let the stuff live and breathe and be its own thing and own it."

The FLASH, Things You Can’t Outrun Episode Review

Barry is definitely getting the hang of his powers.  Like the episodes prior, we start with a narration from Barry about how things are going and what we might expect from this episode.  Then, after a brief dialogue with Iris, we see Barry in full superhero mode save some police the trouble of having to capture an armed gunman in a car chase.  Very cool for sure.

Then we are introduced to the villain of the episode.  Aptly named “The Mist” (later, by Cisco) as he can turn himself into a poison mist, this villain starts the episode by killing a bunch of mobsters in a restaurant.  Good riddance…but why them?

Barry gets to investigate the scene of the crime after he and Joe West share a nice scene where they recommit to freeing Barry’s father.  At the scene of the crime Barry comes to the conclusion that the murder may have been done by a meta-human.  It’s kind of a leap right off the beat, but I guess one could say that he would make such a conclusion so fast due to his unique experience.

So off to the lab it is – STAR labs that is – to consult with the team about what this meta-human could be capable of.  Joe asks a critical question which sets the group to talking about how they might be able to imprison these meta-humans.  This wasn’t a concern previously as the meta-humans ended up dead.  But genocide isn’t really an option.

The group decides that the best option might be to imprison these meta-humans there at STAR labs – down in the particle accelerator area.  This takes us to a view into the memories of the team which show us what exactly happened the night the particle accelerator exploded.  Caitlin has an especially bad memory as her fiancĂ©, Ronny, had died that night.  Later on we find out that her fiancĂ© died a hero though, so there’s someconsolation.

Iris and Eddie have a run-in at Iris and Joe’s house which prompts them to have their first relationship fight it seems.  Eddie is tired of hiding their involvement and Iris doesn’t know what to say.

We then get the second victim of the meta-human – a woman trapped in an elevator.  Barry hears the call on the radio and rushes off to save the day.  But he’s too late and the woman is dead.  But the culprit is still nearby and Barry confronts him in a back hallway.  This turns out to be a bad idea and Barry almost gets killed before he can get back to STAR labs for help.

It's a Demon!  Kill it with holy water and enchanted knives!  Whoops...wrong show.

The group now knows what this guy is capable of and they have a sample of the gas which lets them find out what poison he is using.  This information leads them to the identity of the culprit – Kyle Nimbus.  Turns out he was executed on the night of the explosion.  And this information leads them to Nimbus’ next target: Joe West.

Barry finds out that Joe is visiting his father at Iron Heights prison and rushes to save the day.  Joe and Barry’s father have a nice conversation where they seem to make amends as Joe discloses he is working to free Henry.  But their conversation is cut short as Nimbus crashes the scene and attacks the defenseless Joe.  Thankfully, Caitlin created a vaccine against his toxin which helps to save Joes life.

Barry leaves to confront Nimbus outside the prison but is unable to affect him physically.  He then gets advice from the team which may help – try to outlast him because he can’t hold his gaseous state forever and will need rest.  Kind of similar to Barry I guess.

Barry ends up besting Nimbus and saves the day.  All in a day’s work I guess.  And in the end Joe is alright, Iris and Eddie confess their relationship to Joe, and Cisco and Caitlin have a moment together reminiscing about the heroism of Ronny.

If only he had his gun...

Then, at the end of the episode, we are greeted with a wonderful final scene involving Dr. Wells once again.  We see that during the crisis of the particle accelerator explosion, he went to his secret room (the futuristic one we saw at the end of the first episode) and watched as Barry was hit by the lightning through a camera in Barry’s lab.  It’s almost as if he planned the whole accident which created The Flash…

All of this lends more and more credence to the idea that Wells may be The Reverse-Flash.  Couple this with his statement earlier in the episode about how he feels like he had been “waiting centuries” for the activation of the particle accelerator and we have some compelling evidence for sure.  I’m looking forward to seeing what bigger role he plays and if he really is the Reverse-Flash or something else entirely.

Stay tuned for more next week!

Ezra Miller & Jason Momoa to get Solo 'Flash' & 'Aquaman' Films in 2018

Late last year we at Superhero Movie News heard that DC Comics was searching for actors to play Nightwing in the then titled Batman vs Superman. This of course was before Chris Terrio took over scripting duties from David Goyer and seems to written out Nightwing as far as we know. Never-the-less we heard that DC was looking at both Ezra Miller (Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Penn Badgley were being looked at by DC Comics in this role. Fast forward a year and DC comics has just revealed that Ezra Miller has since been cast as none other then Barry Allen in both Justice League and a stand-alone Flash movie slated for 2018! Ezra will indeed be playing Barry Allen in this incarnation...

DC comics also went onto confirm that Jason Momoa is indeed playing Arthur Curry in Justice League as well has his own solo film also slated for 2018. But we all knew this...

It's unknown which spot these two films will take in 2018 with the previously announced dates of 3/23/2018 or 07/27/2018. But Aquaman already has two separate scripts in the works which means it's further along then this newly announced Flash film.

THE FLASH "The Fastest Man Alive" Review

The Pilot episode was excellent and so I expected great things from episode 2 way before seeing it.  I’m glad to say that I was not disappointed.

The episode begins with a bit of comedy dialogue as Barry (Grant Gustin) narrates his opening.  And then it quickly turns into a showcase of his skill and power as he heroically saves people from a burning building.  Barry’s superhero type is comedic.  He’s never been very athletic (according to his nerdy past) and is still rather clumsy at times.  Like when he runs 6 blocks too far…

But that will work itself out I’m sure.  What seems to still be an issue is his social clumsiness.  But I think it’s just the perception of the people around him.  They think of him as a clumsy screw-up and so they perceive all his actions and words, even when they are perfectly normal, as clumsy and embarrassing.  This is something I’m sure many people can relate to – thus making him a great character because he is relatable.  What a great hero figure!

Barry has been getting used to his powers little by little and has started to encounter a problem in the form of dizzy spells.  This is very apparent when he tries to foil a robbery and passes out.  He finally confides in Caitlin, Cisco, and Dr. Wells that he’s been having problems and they decide to run a test on him.

Turns out it’s a simple fix as he simply needs to eat more.  Like, 850 tacos more…per day.  Talk about a crazy diet!

One thing that this episode really focuses on is the relationship between Detective Joe West and Barry.  To say their relationship is a bit strained is an understatement.  Barry is harboring some resentment towards Det. West for all the years which he didn’t believe him and blamed his innocent father of murder.  This is understandable as anyone who loves you should support your beliefs and try to come to a middle ground at least.  They should trust you and believe you.  Something that Det. West never did.

Detective West is still trying to assume the role of parental guardian towards Barry and Barry just isn’t having it.  He even goes so far as to echo the words he said as a child (as seen in a flashback) about Joe not being his father.  Somehow these two need to come to an understanding about the freedom Barry wants and the safety which Joe desires for Barry.

The main antagonist for this episode isn’t the conflict between Joe West and Barry, however.  It’s the self-replicating Danton Black who is the threat.  He’s the one involved in the murder which we saw Barry examining in the opening scenes and the one who Barry tried to stop during the robbery scene.  And now he’s poised to kill Mr. Stagg, a prominent figure for Central City and Central City University’s Man of the Year.

Black attacks Mr. Stagg at Stagg Industries while Joe is there interviewing him.  This is where Joe sees that Black can duplicate himself – no doubt another blow to his belief system.  Barry hears about Black’s attack there and rushes to save the day.  But Danton Black ends up being a more formidable foe than Barry had anticipated.  Barry has to run away after getting his butt kicked and almost shot to death.

Barry “quits” as The Flash and this is where we get into the major theme of the episode and possibly even the season – self-doubt.  Dr. Wells has a talk with Joe about this very thing, even claiming that Barry’s true enemy is self-doubt and not the meta-humans which he may face in the future.

Barry’s retirement from being The Flash isn’t meant to last, however, as he gets called back to STAR labs for an emergency.  It turns out that the emergency is a fake, however, and his lab partners have found the key to defeating Danton Black.  In quite a timely fashion Det. West shows up to give Barry some words of encouragement.  Timely because Danton Black is at that very time staging a massive attack on Stagg Industries.

A battle between Danton and Barry ensues.  Danton seems to have the upper hand as he replicates into dozens of clones of himself.  But Barry has a team behind him and, with a few words of encouragement (the secret ingredient to heroism it would seem), he manages to take out Danton.  But Danton isn’t one to be kept out for long and makes a move at Barry while Barry’s back is turned, leading to his fall out of a window.

So ends the story of the replicating man, Danton Black.

Barry and Joe end up making amends with each other and vow to catch the real killer of Barry’s mother, thus setting his father free.  It’s a fun and touching scene and makes you root for them in so many ways.

The episode ends off with another unsettling scene involving Dr. Wells.  I’m kind of sensing a theme with this to tell the truth.  In any case, the scene is rather chilling as it involves Harrison Wells confronting Mr. Stagg about his intentions with The Flash.  Stagg indicates that he would like to capture The Flash and conduct research on him in order to change the face of humanity or some such nonsense.  In reply, Dr. Wells stands up from his wheelchair, which totally confounds Mr. Stagg, and then stabs him in the side – right between the sixth and seventh rib and into the kidney/lung from the looks of it.  A fatal blow nonetheless.

What lies in store for our hero?  And what of Dr. Wells’ ominous statement to a dying Mr. Stagg: “The man in the red mask, the fastest man alive, must be kept safe.”  I can’t wait to find out and I hope you’re all as excited as I am!

Andy Mientus Joins 'The Flash' as The Pied Piper

TV Line announced today that SMASH actor Andy Mientus will join The CW's Flash TV Series as the "openly gay" villain The Pied Piper. He will also be expected to debut on episodes 11 & 12 of The Flash. The site goes onto say:
"[Harley Rathway/Pied Piper] is a bona fide genius who used to work at S.T.A.R. Labs until a falling out with his mentor, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). The particle accelerator robbed Hartley of his hearing, but inspired him to create a series of sonic weapons that he uses in an effort to punish Wells by destroying his new protege: The Flash."

Welcome to The Flash! THE FLASH Pilot Review

The Flash Pilot episode starts with an opener which only a superhero origin episode could do right.  We get a glimpse of Barry Allen after he is already The Flash, zooming around town like only The Flash can.  Shortly thereafter we get a glimpse into “the past” in which Barry Allen, as a child, witnessed a very strange occurrence which ended in the death of his mother.  We also see the core virtues of Barry – honorable, caring, and heroic even though he’s smaller and weaker than the bullies around him.

Flash forward (no pun intended) to almost the “present day” and we see Barry as an adult.  He’s constantly late.  We find that he has a good relationship with a police officer coworker, Detective Joe West and a poor relationship with his boss, the police Captain, due to his constant tardiness.  All of this may seem bland, but it’s all backdrop and set up for the transformation which Barry will soon undertake.

Enter the damsel/love interest.  Barry is totally in love with his best friend, the beautiful Iris who also just happens to be the daughter of his friend Detective West.  We also find out that Barry was taken in by Detective West after his mother died and his father was convicted for her murder.

Iris cares for Barry, but more as a brother or best friend than as a potential romantic partner.  It’s such a shame that the nice guy has to finish last like usual.

Of course all this talk of who likes who and what the relationships are between the people is rather boring.  Where’s the action!  Well it starts after the STAR Labs particle accelerator blows up and spreads bad juju all over Star City in the form of strange energy.  This of course joins with a storm and creates a lightning bolt which strikes Barry square in the chest.

Longtime fans of The Flash will appreciate that, while the circumstances for Barry’s accident aren’t entirely the same, the creators kept the original scene from the comic books intact – complete with him pulling on chains and getting thrown into unknown chemicals.

Fast forward nine months.  Barry wakes up from a coma which he has been in since the accident.  He’s deep within STAR labs and we are finally introduced to what will be his supporting team – Cisco Ramon, Caitlin Snow, and Dr. Harrison Wells.  It’s very reminiscent of Arrow but with more science and super powers.

Of course Barry’s first priority is to check on his love, Iris.  After all, he doesn’t know he’s a superhero yet.  But while Barry has been in a coma Iris has started dating Eddy, the “pretty boy” new cop we meet just before Barry’s accident.  We can see the hurt on Barry’s face when he finds this out later in the episode.

What we DO see when he first goes to see Iris is two more Easter eggs for DC fans – another scene taken right out of the comics where Barry is starting to experience his powers and the inclusion of Iris’s workplace from the comics.  The whole incident where the food is falling and Barry sees everything in super slow motion is pretty neat and shows the type of special effects which we will be seeing a lot of in the future.

Barry starts to experience his powers again at the police precinct and then decides to experiment a bit.  Who wouldn’t?  And then, of course, goes looking for answers.  A quick scene later and we see Barry in a leotard with the STAR labs personnel at a test range to see how fast he can go.  Again, this is another little Easter egg from the comics as the group is at the Ferris Air testing facility – the place where Hal Jordon works as a test pilot before he becomes Green Lantern.

It’s here that we find that Caitlin has a troubled life because of the STAR Labs accident.  She lost her job (wait, she still seems employed…) and, more importantly, her fiancĂ© died.  Bummer.  Perhaps this is a reason why she’s so cold, a hint in itself of her becoming Killer Frost.

During Barry’s testing we also get a glimpse into some foreshadowing with the series.  Barry has a flashback to the night his mother died.  During the flashback we see clearly red and yellow lightning blurs.  But then the yellow blur slows down just long enough to see the figure of a yellow man who turns to look at young Barry.  That’s about the time when Barry was “teleported” away from the scene.

The yellow blur is likely the Reverse-Flash, another speedster from the future.  And if I guess correctly, then the red blur is Barry himself as The Flash, traveled back in time to save his mother but instead is forced to save himself by picking his younger self up and taking him away, thus giving Reverse-Flash time to kill his mother.  A time-loop which cannot be undone.  Sucky.

Interestingly enough we have a few hints later in the episode as to who might be the Reverse-Flash.  Dr. Wells seems a good candidate due to one of the Reverse-Flash villains being named “Professor Zoom.”  But Professor Zoom was also named Eobard Thawne which is extremely similar to the other detective’s name – Eddy Thawne.  Yeah.  The same guy who is dating Iris.  To make things sway more in Eddy’s favor we also have the fact that in the comics Professor Zoom killed Iris for refusing to marry him.  Tragedy foretold!

After the accident during testing we see that weird things are going on in Central City.  After Barry has a run-in with Clyde Mardon, the show’s take on the Weather Wizard, he decides that no matter what, something has to be done…and he’s the one to do it.  But Dr. Wells tells Barry that he isn’t a hero.  He’s just a lab guy who got struck by lightning.  So Barry takes off on a run and ends up talking to a friend who knows about being a hero – Oliver Queen.

Oliver Queen gives him some advice which sets him back on the path to being the hero he is meant to be.  Barry returns to Central City and finally gets help from Caitlin and Cisco in the form of the Flash suit, information, and the promise that they will help him via radio communication.

Barry heads off to take on Mardon.  He gets to an abandoned farm just in time to save Joe West’s life.  Mardon currently has a God complex and decides that he should create some serious weather in the form of a tornado to devastate Central City.  After deciding that running the opposite way which the tornado is spinning is the best option to stop Mardon, we see the Flash falter for his first time.

But he doesn’t falter for long.  Dr. Wells joins in with rooting for our hero to save the day which bolsters Barry’s confidence enough that he is able to run over 700mph and unravel the tornado.  Wow!  Take that Usain Bolt!

Detective West is now convinced that Barry was right all these long years.  After now having seen with his own eyes the truth of the weird things in the world he has a heartfelt moment with Barry.  And he is also wise enough to know that he must keep Barry’s secret.

All is good in Central City for the time being and Barry is now on his road to being a full-fledged superhero.  Much of this will hinge on Barry’s self-confidence it seems and I foresee that being a major theme of the show for a while.

But not all is as it seems.  We are treated to a final scene where Dr. Wells opens a high-tech secret door to a secret room in STAR Labs.  In this secret area we see that the good doctor has been faking this whole time as he stands up from his wheelchair.  He then walks over to a strange console which turns out to be a very high-tech hologram projector which depicts a newspaper clipping from the future.

This seems to be an indication that Wells is from the future and that he knows all about who the Flash is going to be.  This is further indication that perhaps Dr. Wells is a Reverse-Flash.  Or maybe he’s something else entirely.

Whatever the case is, I’m looking forward to it.  This show has a lot of potential and seems like it will be a classic CW show filled with fun, intrigue, love-triangles, and a bit of quirky humor.  And DC fans will love the Easter eggs that they are throwing in all over the place.

TNT's 'Titans' & CBS's 'Supergirl' Maybe Connected To 'Arrow' Afterall!

Today, Newsarama caught up with the president of The CW Mark Pedowitz to talk about the upcoming season of their two DC shows The Flash as well as Arrow. The President goes onto specifically tease that TNT's upcoming Titans may directly be connected to Arrow and The Flash. This would be a stroke of genius given Manu Bennett's Deathstroke is the main protagonist of the Titans for years as well as have Wally West eventually appear on Titans and also Colton Haynes Arsenal.

And while the president didn't mention Arrow showrunners Greg Berlanti other superhero show Supergirl the site goes onto claim that maybe a possibility as well since she will be given a new origin story. But her inclusion has yet to be confirmed in the Arrow-verse...

They do once again go onto say FOX's Gotham or NBC's Constatine won't be connected to the other shows and will be set within their own respective universes.

'The Flash' TV Series Will Feature Wally West Eventually

Today, the showrunners of The CW's Flash TV series Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg commented at PaleyFest 2014 on making Detective West  & Iris West African-American instead of the traditional Caucasian on their upcoming series. Berlanti said that "We made the West's African-American so we can head in that direction" when asked if they made the family African-American based on DC's New 52 which features an African-American Wally West. Andrew Kreisberg added: "When DC introduced Wally [in the New 52] he was African-American"

I guess only time will tell when we see fan favorite Wally West appear alongside Barry Allen on The Flash series. But with Barry only being in his early 20's Wally won't appear for a while...unless time-travel is involved?
