Today is the day for Whiplash star Melissa Benoist. It was announced by showrunner Greg Berlnati as well the actress herself that she will be playing Supergirl the last daughter of Krypton in the upcoming CBS series. As well as announcing herself as Kara Danvers fellow DCTV universe stars Stephen Amell of Arrow and Grant Gustin of The Flash too kto twitter to congratulate their newest super pal. Does this mean Supergirl will finally appear alongside Arrow and The Flash for the first DCTV trinity?!

At first glace a TV Show about Supergirl never seemed interesting at all (Then DC announced Krypton for Syfy) but at second glance it might be genius. Showrunner Greg Berlanti is forbidden to use the big three in any of his DC tv shows like Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman so it seems he is developing his own "trinity" on the small screen. It has been revealed that even though Supergirl will debut on CBS Greg Berlanti has it written in his contract that she may crossover to The CW's Arrow or Flash. This is because Time Warner (subsidiary of Warner Brothers) owns both The CW and CBS which would allow this type of crossover. Unfortunately they obviously do not own NBC or FOX which would explain why we can never see characters from Gotham or Constantine on Arrow.

Another great thing about this type of crossover would be that the "Arrow-verse" will finally get a "Superman" type character without it actually being Superman. Currently casting is underway for his Supergirl but it should be announced shortly. The question still remains if Titans on TNT will also be allowed to crossover since it to is owned by WB. It is also not even on network television which means it won't be stealing viewership from the other DC shows...beside Krypton. But that show is not being run by Greg Berlnati like these three so it might be s stretch to see Nightwing up there.

Today, The Wrap has learned that The Originals and Vampire Dairies star Clarie Holt is currently screen testing for the lead role of Kara Zor-el in CBS's upcoming Supergirl TV Series. The series is currently being run by The Flash and Arrow showrunner Greg Berlanti as well as Ali Adler. The site goes onto mention she is on a list with other actresses who have yet to be named.

In the most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly (via KSiteTV) a section will be dedicated to The Flash, Arrow and upcoming Supergirl showrunner Greg Berlanti. In it the discuss his comic book shows, his failed Green Lantern movie and other projects he is over seeing. In his discussions about CBS's Supergirl he teases that Supergirl may indeed be set within the Arrow-verse alongside Stephen Amell's Arrow and Grant Gustin's The Flash:

Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of Supergirl. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it's possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash.

This actually make's perfect sense since the Man of Steel will never appear on television the Girl of Steel would be a perfect replacement.  The question is will the Teen Titans TV Show that is headed to TNT and not run by Greg Berlanti be set within the Arrow-verse?!

The other day it was revealed that Rapaport Casting (who worked on Arrow & The Flash) would return to help showrunner Greg Berlanti find their Supergirl. Now TVLine has the first character descriptions and minor plot details on both Kara Zor-El as well as her sister?!

Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers - The show is eyeing Caucasian females, age 22 to 26, to play 24. As the series’ mythology goes, Kara at age 12 was sent from her dying home planet of Krypton to Earth, where she was taken in by the Danvers, a foster family who taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers. After repressing said skills for more than a decade, Kara is forced to bust out her super moves in public during an unexpected disaster. Energized by her heroism for the first time in her life, she begins embracing her abilities in the name of helping the people of her city, earning herself a super moniker along the way.

Alex Danvers - Kara’s gorgeous, brilliant, science-minded 26-year old foster sister. Growing up, Alex was partly jealous of her sibling yet also fascinated by her abilities, prompting Alex to learn as much as she could about alien anthropology, sociology and culture. Today, Alex works for a secret government organization and, alongside her heroic sis, will face many challenges, both mundane and super.

The question of this day in age in comic film or TV adaptions is are they all connected? Marvel has done it first literally connecting their movies with television and soon netflix shows like Daredevil all into one massive shared universe. So the question remained will DC do the same thing? This is something that has plagued DC fans since Arrow lit up the small screen on The CW. Will Stephen Amell's Arrow ever meet up with Henry Cavill's Superman? Well at this past year's Comic-Con it seemed DC head Geoff Johns put that theory to rest that Arrow & it's spin-off show The Flash are in a separate universe than Henry Cavill and Ben Afflecks Batman & Superman. But was he lying? He was and he wasn't.

Today, Geoff Johns spoke with BuzzFeed to confirm that DC is trying to actual create a cinematic multiverse!

“We look at it as the multiverse. We have our TV universe and our film universe, but they all co-exist. For us, creatively, it’s about allowing everyone to make the best possible product, to tell the best story, to do the best world. Everyone has a vision and you really want to let the visions shine through. I think the characters are iconic enough. I like [Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.] a lot. I love what Marvel does. I’m a huge fan. It’s just a different approach.”

Now for some of you who don't know DC had a multiverse with multiple "earths". That means one superhero may live their whole life in one universe and have a slightly different version on the second earth. Or one superhero maybe one person on Earth-1 but on Earth-2 the mantle is taken up by someone else like Jay Garrick & Barry Allen both being The Flash. And The Flash is the one who first learns of the multiverse....Which is also teased at the end of The Flash pilot episode.

Now if DC can actually pull off doing a multiverse that means while the TV & Film universe are connected they are separate at the same time. What ever happens on film won't dictate what happens on TV and vice-versa. So the writers still have creative freedom and aren't held down by each others contradicting storylines. That is until DC finally pulls out their wild card and does a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie which will have all the universes collide into one another.  But this type of massive movie is obviously far down the line for DC...

So  as far as we know we have the Man of Steel Universe, the Arrow-Verse and last week Sandman creator Neil Gaiman mentions DC has yet to announce a slate of Vertigo Universe movies that are coming out like Sandman or Justice League: Dark which would give us a third universe. It's unknown where Gotham, Constantine, Lucifer, Teen Titans, Supergirl, or Static Shock fit within these universes or others.

Lastly, he adds that maybe one day they will have a crossover but not anytime soon...

"There’s been discussions over the years for both, obviously. You never say never. Maybe one day we’ll link a show to a film if it makes sense, but the creative process we’re going through right now is to let the stuff live and breathe and be its own thing and own it."

Today, Newsarama caught up with the president of The CW Mark Pedowitz to talk about the upcoming season of their two DC shows The Flash as well as Arrow. The President goes onto specifically tease that TNT's upcoming Titans may directly be connected to Arrow and The Flash. This would be a stroke of genius given Manu Bennett's Deathstroke is the main protagonist of the Titans for years as well as have Wally West eventually appear on Titans and also Colton Haynes Arsenal.

And while the president didn't mention Arrow showrunners Greg Berlanti other superhero show Supergirl the site goes onto claim that maybe a possibility as well since she will be given a new origin story.But her inclusion has yet to be confirmed in the Arrow-verse...

They do once again go onto say FOX's Gotham or NBC's Constatine won't be connected to the other shows and will be set within their own respective universes.

After just two weeks it seems Supergirl has found its home at CBS, because every network needs a comic book TV series apparently. Written by Ali Alder and Arrow showrunner Greg Berlanti Supergirl will follow a 24 year old Kara Zor-el after she leaves a dying Krypton "hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. She decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be." It's unknown if Superman himself will be allowed on the show but he is used in that logline.

Yesterday, Bleeding Cool ran a scoop that Superman's cousin Kara Zor-el aka Supergirl was being developed for television. Now while Bleeding Cool can be a hit or miss when it comes to scoops we decided not to run the story until more information comes forth. Well, earlier today E! News confirmed the scoop stating that Warner Brothers is shopping around the networks for the show after The CW (Who already has Flash & Arrow) turned them down. Michael Green who wrote for such shows like Smallville, Heroes and 2011's Green Lantern is attached to produce.

Now the show is in very early development so it's unknown what network could pick up the series. With Constantine at NBC and Gotham at FOX it shouldn't be to hard to find a home for Supergirl. My only question is where is that Young Justice series that was rumored months ago? That's a teen superhero drama that would fit perfectly into The CW's demographic if not Supergirl.

:: Update :: - Deadline has also confirmed this story but makes it clear Michael Green is not involved with the project at all. That actually Arrow & The Flash showrunner Greg Berlanti will be helming the project alongside Ali Alder. No name has been given to the project and it will be a new iteration of the classic Supergirl storyline.
