Both Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' and DC's 'Shazam' Was Suppose To Be Announced At Comic-Con

Last month the biggest gathering of nerd-dom appeared in San Diego. Many of us were anxiously awaiting for both Marvel and DC to announce some of their untitled movies but were sorely disappointed when neither did. Two films everyone thought for sure was Marvel's Doctor Strange who already has a writer and director attached and rumored for the second 2016 release date. And DC's Shazam with Dwayne Johnson starring as either Shazam or Black Adam.

Now Dwayne Johnson revealed that he was invited to go to Comic-Con to promote his newest film Hercules but also to secretly announce DC's Shazam. But before he was gonna go on stage to announce Shazam Warner Brothers and DC told him "No" according to the Brazilian website Omelete:
“My trip to Comic-Con was a surprise, so I called personally to executives at New Line and Warner Bros. to see if they would like to announce Shazam there,” said the actor. “Unfortunately, it was not time yet, but the official announcement should happen soon.”

Now recently we have heard that Walk the Line and Her actor Joaquin Phoenix is currently the front runner to play sorcerer supreme in Marvel's Doctor Strange. But according to Badass Digest the actor is extremely reluctant to sign the dotted line because of all the green screen, special effects and long term deal that comes with being in a Marvel film. They even go onto say he was suppose to come on stage at Comic-Con in an announcement much like Mark Ruffalo during The Avengers Panel in 2011:
"That weekend a Marvel Studios insider told me they had tried their hardest, that they had pushed as hard as they could, but they couldn't close the deal in time. [The] problems that have kept the deal from closing remain, and they go beyond the basic fact that Phoenix is balking at the heavy multi-picture contract: Joaquin Phoenix literally doesn't know if he can work on this kind of movie. He's a great actor, and he can play the role. But the Marvel Studios blockbuster machine is full of pre-viz and fight-viz and green screen and massive reshoots. It's not a world that's as comfortable for him, and he's just not certain he can do it."
It's only a matter of time before both these films are announced by their respective companies.

Doctor Strange and Shazam are rumored to hit sometime in 2016

SDCC'14: Captain America's Broken Shield Displayed at Comic-Con

Today at SDCC, Marvel just unveiled another prop from Avengers: Age Of Ultron. This is something we already knew based on the footage description (which you can read here), Captain America's shield has been heavily damaged. Now we're not talking minor scratches here, we are talking about actual cracks on the shield itself. Check it out below..

What?! I know right? Steve's shield is made of vibranium which is one of the strongest metals on earth.  So seeing it like that one would assume that whatever came in contact with that shield is a lot more powerful. I guess we'll find out May 1st, 2015 who or what caused the damage to Cap's shield.

SDCC'14: Another Prop From AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Surfaces

Well we don't know exactly what it is but it looks like the first version of Ultron Mark I that crashes the Avengers' party in the film. It definitely fits that description of Ultron's first body being made up of various Iron Man armor parts. You can read the footage description here. As for the zombie-esque iron man suit, you can have a look at it down below.

SDCC 14: Ra's al Ghul Confirmed For Season 3 of 'Arrow'

Today, during the massive DC TV Panel that feature the cast and crew from The CW's Arrow and The Flash, FOX's Gotham and NBC's Constantine had a few surprises. One being that the big baddie of Arrow season 3 will indeed be Ra's al Ghul! This comes after his name being dropped last season as well as his daughter and the League of Assassins making an appearance:

Instantly, many tried to fan cast on who would make a good Ra's al Ghul after Liam Neeson's breathtaking performance in Batman Begins. Then some suggested Odes Fehr (Charmed) as well as Pedro Pascal from Game of Thrones.

It was none other than Josh Brolin (Gangster Squad, Oldboy) with a rubber Infinity Gauntlet. Showing the fans and the world....Thanos is here. SDCC'14: AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Footage Description

Whilst there were no announcements apart from the release date of Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, Marvel did show some footage from Ant-Man and to top things off, they showed a sizzle reel for Avengers: Age of Ultron. SlashFilm have provided a detailed description of what was shown in Hall-H. Feast your eyes down below..
We start on a city scape and the whole team is assembled in Avengers tower. They’re all hanging out. Drinking beer, joking, and Stark tells Thor the whole no one can grab the hammer thins is a circus side show. Stark tries to pick it up. “If I get it can I rule Asgard” he asks. Yes, Thor says. He fails on a first attempt. “I’ll be right back.” He puts on the Iron Man glove. No dice. He and Rhodie try. Nope. Hawkeye fails. Banner tries and really exerts himself. Everyone gives him a look. Next up is Cap and he budges it which really gets Thor worried. He says, “Well, this tells me one thing. None of you are worthy.”  Just then a huge screeching sound. “You’re all not worthy.” Enter a brutally broken, almost zombie like being. It’s Ultron. “How could you be worth you are all killers. You want to protect the world but you don’ want it to change. Theres only one path to peace.. your extinction.” Just then a bunch of other robot fly in and we get the Marvel Studios logo.

Ultron continues in voice over with a bunch of other images. “I had a vision the whole world screaming for mercy.” People running away, escaping, everyone tangled in strings, Banner all sickly looking. Epic war scenes, Hawkeye and others helping people evacuate. Banner in the snow, then a random hospital, Scarlet Witch on a bus, Thor smashing a tank. Then Tony Stark “It’s the end,” he says. “The end of the path I started us on. Nothing lasts forever.” We then see a screaming Hulk and the massive Hulk Buster armor. Scarlet Witch on the Harley Davidson, Quicksilver running around, Andy Serkis as a human (!?!), more explosions, Iron Man flying by what looks like a prison. Hulk throws a car at the Hulkbuster and then punches him through it. A quick shot of Widow and Hulk touching hands.

The whole time, a song has been playing about strings. Finally, we get a fully realized, metallic, 8 foot Ultron. “There are no strings on me.” The title card.

That does indeed sound awesome! It definately sounds a lot more darker than its predecessor. Joss had said he was looking at films like the God Father-Part II as inspiration when he was writing Avengers: Age Of Ultron. So it'll be interesting to see how well it turns out. What do you guys think?

    SDCC'14: Evangeline Lily's and Corey Stoll's ANT-MAN Roles Revealed.

At the Marvel panel, it was revealed that Cory Stoll will be playing the villain Yellow Jacket and Evangeline Lily will be portraying Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) daughter, Hope Van Dyne. Michael Douglas revealed that his character [Hank Pym]  hires Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) to help him and train him to fight against Cory Stoll who is taking Pym's company in a villainous direction. So we should expect to see some Ant-Man vs Ant-Man action which could be a pleasure to watch visually. Are you guys excited for Ant-Man?

    SDCC 14: 'Ant-Man' Comic-Con Teaser Description

Even though a test reel for Ant-Man was directed and shot back in 2012 by then director Edgar Wright. It seem's that the new director Peyton Reed and the cast have filmed a small teaser just for the Comic-Con fans! Be noted that actual filming doesn't begin until August in Atlanta:
There are two components to this pretty zany footage: a scene in Hank Pym's lab, where the camera just pans across the space, showing off all of the weird scientific equipment and bubbling beakers and creepy anthills, before finishing up at an Ant-Man helmet. During this, Michael Douglas is convincing Scott Lang to do something. Lang protests that Hank seems nice but "I'm not a superhero." That means he's not an egomaniac, and he's not an "undisciplined moron causing more destruciton than he stops," Pym retorts. Superheroes are a "ridiculous concept. You're doing this because it's the right thing to do." "Someone already stole your balls," Pym taunts Lang. "It's just a small job, he adds.

Cut to a tiny Scott Lang in the Ant-Man suit, running away after completing the "small job" — his Ant-Man helmet is on the fritz, and he keeps losing his connection to Hank Pym, who's barking instructions. He's supposed to use the helmet to control "the transport" — which turns out to be a small flying ant. He tries to convince the flying ant to help him out, but the ant isn't listening. And then some flying lights show up, chasing him — so Scott has no choice but to jump off the building onto the flying ant, which he doesn't have a very stable grip on. He's trying to reach a rendezvous with Hank, but first he has to survive.

     Ant-Man hits next Summer!

The HULKBUSTER Gauntlet On Display at SDCC'14.

The cast of Marvel's Avengers: Age Of Ultron are doing a cast signing. Here, we got a tease of the Hulkbuster's fist bursting through metal. Whether or not the full suit will be revealed, we have no idea but check out the gauntlet down below..

SDCC'14: THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES Trailer Description

The trailer for the film has already been rated with Alberta Film Ratings, so the it should be appearing online anytime soon. My guess it will debut next week with marvel's up coming film, Guardians Of The Galaxy. However, if that's too long of a wait for all you Middle Earth fans, SlashFilm have given a brief description of the footage that was screened. Check it out below!
I’ll remember everything that happened. Those who survived, those who didn’t.” There’s footage of Smaug blowing fire on Laketown, a decimated city, soldeirs and huge armies walking. Then, finally, Billy Boyd’s song from Return of the King hits, setting a somber, down tone. It promises the defining chapter of the Middle Earth trilogy as we see footage of a chase scene on ice. Flashes of Sauron. Then Bard asks Thorin, “Will you have peace or war?” He responds “I will have war!” A few more epic shots before everything gets quiet. Thorin “Will you follow me one last time?” Title card.
Not much was revealed here but with the teaser dropping soon. We should get our first look at the film as soon as possible.

SDCC'14: First WARCRAFT Footage Screened, Motion Title Card Revealed

Plot points and anything from this film is being kept closely under wraps. We don't really know anything about the film and it started principal photography a few months ago surprisingly. However, today some footage was screened at comic con. Whilst it's not detailed, there's a few tid bits there that can give us an idea of what to expect from the movie. ScreenRant was able to give a brief description...

"The Warcraft teaser that followed was narrated by both a human and an Orc from the film (each seemed to be reading from their war diaries), indicating that the movie will very much examine what leads to the conflict between the two races from both of their perspectives (think Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).

While most of the footage was focused on depicting the various environments and landscapes of Azeroth, there was also some material teasing actual battle sequences involving the two clans. The CGI Orcs are clearly far from being finished, so it remains to be seen how good their physical design will look once they’ve been fully-rendered."

Whilst there was not much revealed, could this movie be the next Lord of the Rings? That remains to be seen but here's the motion title card that was revealed today:

SDCC 14: 'King Kong' Reboot Announced in 2016!

Today, Legendary revealed at their panel that Godzilla II was indeed heading to the big screen after this years monster hit. As well as some footage for Duncan Jones Warcraft. But to finish off their panel they revealed another cinematic monster is getting a reboot....he is a king after all! King Kong reboot is headed to the big screens November 6th, 2016 titled Skull Island:
With Godzilla moving forward as a franchise and a brand new King Kong movie...could Godzilla III feature the biggest "Verses" film of all time King Kong vs Godzilla!?

    Skull Island hits in 2016

SDCC'14: First Look at Ant-Man's helmet; AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Cast Assembled!

I think it's safe to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe panel is one of the most anticipated panel at SDCC this year. The cast for both Ant-Man (well most of it) and the Avengers sequel will be appearing and footage will be showcased as well as announce a few movies for those dates they revealed a few weeks ago. Well what are you guys waiting for, get the first official look at the Ant-man helmet and the Avengers: Age Of Ultron Cast down below...
