Both Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' and DC's 'Shazam' Was Suppose To Be Announced At Comic-Con

Last month the biggest gathering of nerd-dom appeared in San Diego. Many of us were anxiously awaiting for both Marvel and DC to announce some of their untitled movies but were sorely disappointed when neither did. Two films everyone thought for sure was Marvel's Doctor Strange who already has a writer and director attached and rumored for the second 2016 release date. And DC's Shazam with Dwayne Johnson starring as either Shazam or Black Adam.

Now Dwayne Johnson revealed that he was invited to go to Comic-Con to promote his newest film Hercules but also to secretly announce DC's Shazam. But before he was gonna go on stage to announce Shazam Warner Brothers and DC told him "No" according to the Brazilian website Omelete:
“My trip to Comic-Con was a surprise, so I called personally to executives at New Line and Warner Bros. to see if they would like to announce Shazam there,” said the actor. “Unfortunately, it was not time yet, but the official announcement should happen soon.”

Now recently we have heard that Walk the Line and Her actor Joaquin Phoenix is currently the front runner to play sorcerer supreme in Marvel's Doctor Strange. But according to Badass Digest the actor is extremely reluctant to sign the dotted line because of all the green screen, special effects and long term deal that comes with being in a Marvel film. They even go onto say he was suppose to come on stage at Comic-Con in an announcement much like Mark Ruffalo during The Avengers Panel in 2011:
"That weekend a Marvel Studios insider told me they had tried their hardest, that they had pushed as hard as they could, but they couldn't close the deal in time. [The] problems that have kept the deal from closing remain, and they go beyond the basic fact that Phoenix is balking at the heavy multi-picture contract: Joaquin Phoenix literally doesn't know if he can work on this kind of movie. He's a great actor, and he can play the role. But the Marvel Studios blockbuster machine is full of pre-viz and fight-viz and green screen and massive reshoots. It's not a world that's as comfortable for him, and he's just not certain he can do it."
It's only a matter of time before both these films are announced by their respective companies.

Doctor Strange and Shazam are rumored to hit sometime in 2016
