Thomas Jane Would Be Down To Return as 'The Punisher' But His Body Might Not Be

Ever since Marvel Studios got the rights back to the vigilante Punisher speculation on when he would make his big MCU debut has run rampt. We have had several hints to the character in All hail The King as well as Captain America: The Winter Solider but no actual appearance. Hands down everyone's favorite actor who has played the character is Thomas Jane from 2004's The Punisher. While the film didn't make much money and lacked in action for more drama it still was the best interpretation we have had out of all three Punisher films. That was until Thomas Jane took it upon himself to create the 2012 short film Dirty Laundry starring himself once again as The Punisher. This short made people believe he was the clear choice to once again play the character if Marvel ever used the character in the movies.

Well, now Marvel is only a few short months away from releasing their first "darker" Netflix series Daredevil who has a long complicated history with The Punisher. They both are literally two sides of the same coin. Daredevil fears that without control he could turn into The Punisher while battling the mob in New York's, Hells Kitchen. So many have wondered would Punisher appear in the show or the other upcoming Hells Kitchen shows like Jessica Jones, Luke cage or Iron Fist? No casting or hint to the character has been given but fan-favorite Thomas Jane reveals he would return. While speaking on his own popular Reddit AMA the actor reveals to a fan that with the right story he would return to the character:
He then unfortunately goes onto reveal to iamROUGE that maybe at his age (currently 45) his body really couldn't take the stress of being a hero once again with the intense training that seems to come with a Marvel contract. He then finally mentions maybe the next Punisher should be an unknown with a square jaw just like the comics:Yeah, tell 'em I really love Circle of Blood, where Frank gets thrown in prison with a bunch of the guys that he put there. Well, the Navy SEAL training was some of the hardest and most rewarding training I've ever done. The SEALS that I worked with were some of the most level-headed, intelligent, and loyal people i've ever met. And with the right story - I'd do it again. Yeah.
"I feel like I've [played a true version of the character already]. That's why I did [Dirty Laundry]. I wanted to create something that was truer to my own vision of what that [Punisher (2004)] could be. I feel like I put that out there. It was really well received. I hope that The Punisher will continue. I hope they get an idea of what it can be and how to make it successful. I hope that they use that short film as a template for how to make it truer to what that character is. I said what I wanted to say with that guy. I don't think I ever really was the perfect Frank Castle. I look at him as Italian. A guy who, I guess I'm the right age now, but I would see him as a weathered guy. My body is not quite perfect for Frank. I would see Frank as more of a square jawed, lock-jawed kind of guy. I don't know who it would be. I think you'd need an unknown to play Frank. He’s really the ideal asshole!"

Showrunner Steven DeKnight Wants 'Punisher' To Appear On Marvel's 'Daredevil'

Showrunner Steven DeKnight has been quite active on Twitter after being announced as the showrunner for Marvel's Daredevil. He is known for being vague but does try to answer many fans question regarding the upcoming Netflix show. Now the showrunner reveals that if he could show run another Marvel character it would be Punisher...who he would also want to appear alongside Daredevil:
Punisher. RT @samunoz19: @stevendeknight if you could make a show about a comic book character that isn't Daredevil, which would it be?

Was 'The Punisher' Suppose to Cameo in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'?

During an escape attempt by Nick Fury from undercover Hydra agents hiding themselves as SHIELD agents a well timed Penske truck smashes into a police car. Another time when evil Agent Sitwell is thrown from the car with Steve, Sam and Natasha he two also hits a Penske truck. Well co-director Joe Russo confirms (via Coming Soon) the driver of the both trucks is the same guy without giving a name:
"The man who drives that truck," Joe deadpans, joking that the driver is a candidate for a future Marvel One-Shot, "Is very highly trained. He thinks on his own terms. He's got a plan and a very specific skill set."
While making a Taken joke many have theorized that this could have been our first actual cameo from The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Marvel got the rights back from him. This actually wouldn't be his first reference. It has been shown that some of the mobsters directly related to his family's murder is in prison alongside Justin Hammer and Trevor Slattery as seen in the Marvel One-Shot All Hail The King.
Some are also hoping The Punisher makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the upcoming gritty Daredevil Netflix series currently shooting and debuting this May. Lets just hope they get Thomas Jane back as Frank Castle after the amazing job he did on the short film Dirty Laudry back in 2012.

Director James Gunn Teases a Marvel Studios 'Thunderbolts' Movie

Last year Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn revealed that if he got to pick another Marvel movie he would like to make he would want to do the Thunderbolts. The Thunderbolts are a group of villains and anti-hero's that come together for the greater good. Of course the lineup has changed over the years including such villains like Red Hulk, The Punisher and Deadpool. Obviously the Marvel Studios line up would be specific to the characters Marvel owns...
Well with the recent announcement that Sony will release the very first villain spin-off team up movie The Sinister Six in 2016. A new door could possibly open with villain lead comic book films that we have to yet to see. Now James Gunn at the press junket for his next movie Guardians of the Galaxy reveals that Kevin Feige has said if Guardians turns out be a hit....Gunn can make any movie he wants at Marvel including Thunderbolts:
"I will tell you, one time I was saying to Kevin [Feige], we were sitting on set together on one of the days he visited and I said, ‘You know, I really want to make Thunderbolts,' and he said, 'James, if Guardians does well you'll be able to do whatever you want.' So we'll see what happens."If The Sinister Six is a hit at Sony expect a lot more villain movies or villain team-ups like The Thunderbolts or at DC The Suicide Squad! But first we need to get Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe officially Mr. Gunn..

Milo Ventimiglia Campaigning to play 'The Punisher'; Won't Return for 'Heroes: Reborn'

Milo Ventimiglia is no stranger to comic book tv series being a long time star on NBC's Heroes. Well yesterday Captain America: The Winter Soldier badass Frank Grillo (Crossbones) posted on Twitter how actors need to forget being rockstars and be in a Marvel movie cause the fans are so great in which Milo Ventimiglia replied:
Sound like a plan @FrankGrillo @WizardWorld. MV

'Iron Man 3' Scribe Drew Pearce Wants Marvel's 'The Runways' and 'Moon Knight' on Netflix

The Runaways

News has been flying out of Marvel Television on the upcoming Netflix shows Daredevil. Soon we will get information on their other shows like Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones. All these characters will be apart of the bigger Marvel Cinematic Universe but will take care of the street thugs that still fester in the MCU. Some fans see other street level heroes getting their own shows down the line in their own 'phases' just like the movies. Some of the characters include The Punisher (Who we all hope pops up in Daredevil at some point) as well as The Runaways mini-series and Moon Knight (Marvel's Batman with Multiple Personality Disorder)

So I reached out to Iron Man 3 and The Runaways scribe Drew Pearce to tell him that a Runaways show should be on Netflix since the movie was scrapped in favor of The Avengers in 2011:
@TheSinisterSix @KnightGambit Couldn't agree more. Though I'd almost rather do Warren's Moon Knight, because it's fucking great.

'The Punisher' Reference in 'Marvel One-Shot: All Hail The King'
N
Even though many have known for a while that in the Marvel One-Shot 'All Hail The King' a couple cameo's happen. The obvious being that Seagate Prison in which Trevor Slattery is held in is also the same prison Luke Cage is sentenced to before becoming Power Man. There is also a silly cameo during the mid credit scene which I'll leave for you to discover yourself.
Yesterday, during an interview with Movies.com writer and director Drew Pearce also mentioned a brand new cameo that he wasn't sure was even visible but definitely in there. He mentions that its during the beginning when Trevor is walking down a walkway with prison cages on either side. With a bit of digging it turns out a couple crime bosses associated with The Punisher are being incarcerated in there as well!
:: CLICK TO ENLARGE ::
After a bit of digging Guido Carboni and Luis Allegre are most famously associated with the Maggia crime family in the Marvel Universe. Carboni is a tough crime boss but Allegre is acutally apart of the same family that murders Frank Castles family. Which turns him into The Punisher.
Last we seen anything on The Punisher was the spectacular short film "Dirty Laundry" starring former Punisher Thomas Jane as Frank Castle. What does this mean? Maybe this was all done for the upcoming Marvel Street Universe that will be featured on Netflix including Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones. Could Punisher references show up in those series or even a cameo?!

Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige Teases 'Daredevil' & 'The Punisher' !
Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige tease future Marvel property's!
Today Bleeding Cool got the honor of speaking with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige at the Thor: The Dark World press junket. Of course the news eventually left Thor 2 and went to the future Marvel films. If some of you don't remember Marvel Studios regained the rights to The Punisher back in 2011 while getting Dardevil last fall! Amongst others like Blade and Ghost Rider...
So many fans of course wondered will we get some R Rated Marvel films soon set within the MCU? Well they were put on the back burner in favor of the current Avengers storyline...until now! Now Kevin Feige has given some insight those 'Marvel Knights' property's:
Also Kevin Feige went on to tell other press at the junket that we will know the future of Marvel sometime in 2014 (Most likely SDCC 14).We’re trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now. Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don’t want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time.
2014 will see 2016/2017's marvel releases
