'Robin' Easter Egg Seen in Recent 'Batman v Superman' Set Photo?
The rumor that Robin/Nightwing appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been around since late 2013 without ever being officially "debunked". No, not the Justin Beiber punking the internet rumor but the rumor started by Latino-Review that Nightwing will have a falling out with The Dark Knight. And will not have spoken in years. Well, a fan in Detroit has posted an image from the set of Batman v Superman which shows a graffiti marking that says "Batman & Robin"

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Nightwing Prodigal's Brady Roberts
Hey guys, us here at SMN were lucky enough to be contacted about a week ago by writer, actor, and producer of Nightwing: Prodigal, Brady Roberts!
Hey Brady, first of all thank you for reaching out to us here at Superhero Movie News, we really appreciate your interest in our site as we are for sure interested in your film series! You guys have a great site, thanks for having me on.
Why Nightwing? There are numerous characters out there in the DC Universe that would make for good fan films, but out of all these characters, Batman included, why make a Nightwing fan film? What makes him exciting? I love Nightwing. I grew up reading the comics, watching the cartoons, and I felt like I related most to Robin/Nightwing. I know Dick Grayson is a character that has a huge cult following and someone that has never been done properly in live action, and fans can't wait any longer to see a high quality, epic Nightwing series. Myself included. My hope with this show is that we can present this character in a way that goes down with the best live action adaptations and have fans notice all the work and love that went into it. That's a big goal, but from the footage I've seen and the team we built, I think it's entirely possible. It looks amazing.
Kind of going off of the last question, with this being a Nightwing fan film, what is Batman’s role in Prodigal? Batman is missing. This allowed me to focus solely on Nightwing as the star of the show, without being overshadowed by Batman.
Tell me about Nightwing a little bit, where is he at right now? Was be in Chicago, Bludhaven, New York, or was he keeping a low-profile before Batman went missing? One thing I really want to make clear is that this definitely is not an origin story- the Gothamverse is established here, lots of other story lines from the comics are referenced. Nightwing is returning to Gotham from Bludhaven in Batman's absence and begins to investigate the myth of the Court of Owls.
Where does the relationship between Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon stand in this series? I think the relationship with Dick and Barbara is the most fun part of this show. Lots of banter back and forth and awkwardness- they still work together, they clearly still love each other and have a deep history together, and maybe some unfinished business, but Dick is out dating another girl and is pretty open about it.
We can see from the trailer that there are some obvious references to the “Killing Joke” in Prodigal, what other comic storylines can we expect either a reference to or to be adapted into this series? Oh man, it is endless. We reference a whole bunch of other story lines and characters, from the comics, cartoons, and movies. I really wanted to create a huge scope for this project and those references help establish that universe. I'm not going to say what story lines are referenced- maybe when the show comes out you guys can try to find all the easter eggs. That's part of the fun.
Based on the name of this series, is it at all based on the “Prodigal” story arc that took place after “Knightfall” in the mid-1990’s? It is not a direct adaptation of any previous story, no.
We can also see villains like Bane, the Joker, even the Red Hood in the trailer, but what other Gotham based foes will we encounter throughout Prodigal? I think so far for the series we've announced Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Bane, but I will say that not all of the characters that are in the trailer are in the series. The trailer was shot over a year ago, and a lot changed in the planning of the show since then. The trailer was shot in Calgary, then I moved to Vancouver, so it's an entirely new cast and crew, although the director of the trailer JD Buzz is still involved as our VFX and co-writer.
You’re not only the star of Nightwing: Prodigal, but you also wrote and produced the series. From a creative standpoint, what was the most challenging part of putting this series together? It was a huge undertaking. That's why it took so long from the trailer to the series- I didn't even want to do the series originally because it was such a large task, but after 6 months of fans asking when the show would come out I caved in. We built an amazing team in Vancouver, starting with director Kyle James-Patrick, director of photography Bruce Borland, lead makeup Lindsay McMillan, and our AD Samantha Derochie. All of these people took a huge burden off of me as they are such pros and I didn't need to worry about anything that they did at all. The most challenging part of the series was writing- it was so much fun to play in that world as a writer, but it was also a huge responsibility as I didn't want to let the fans down. If you love the comics you will love this show, because it pays a lot of love and respect to the source material. I like to think I know my stuff pretty well, and JD was a great co-writer, and I'm really happy with what we did and think it pays true to the book.
Asking that question from an actor’s standpoint as well, what was the most challenging part of playing the ex-Boy Wonder as well as his alter-ego?The hardest part as an actor in this was the fact that I was also producer. As an actor I would normally show up and only have to think about nailing my scene. Here I had 10,000 jobs and things to worry about, so I was concerned that my performance would suffer, but I hope that is not true. I have a lot of training and experience as an actor and I was comfortable and able to put producing things out of my mind when it came time to act.
What makes your version of Dick Grayson different than other versions of "Robin" that we've seen in the past like Chis O'Donnell from Batman Forever/Batman & Robin or Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "Robin" from The Dark Knight Rises? This version is true to the comics. He's at a really interesting time in his life- he's in his mid 20s, he's not Robin anymore, he's grown up. He's seen and been through so much. He feels a lot of guilt for not being there to save Barbara from the Joker, for Batman going missing, for Jason being murdered. Not being there for any of those things. So he's struggling in a sense, and develops a sense of humor to try to cover that up but there's some real pain there. I think you guys will be really impressed with the action sequences in this show, way cooler than any live action Robin stuff you've seen in the past. We had an amazing team of stunt guys and pro wrestlers for the fight sequences.
Now, how close are you guys to being done with filming? Are you done and in post-production or do you still have things left to wrap up in the filming department? We are 95% wrapped filming and are already into editing. We just did voiceovers/ADR sound yesterday in the studio. We just have a couple really small things to shoot next weekend and are also doing a photoshoot for the show. We had a really great wrap party this past Saturday night for everyone involved in the show.
Finally, last question for you Brady and then I’ll get out of your hair, when can we expect Nightwing: Prodigal to be released onto the inter webs?

EDITORIAL: Top 5 Comic Book Characters I Would Like to See on Netflix

Once again I come to you to talk about one of the best inventions since VHS tapes: Netflix! This week, I'm going to reveal which 5 comic book characters I would like to see Netflix turn into a "Netflix Original" in the wake of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones getting their own series' which will merge with The Defenders. So let's start with pick Number 5!
5. Wonder Woman
My first pick is one of the top superheroes of the DC Universe: Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman has been around for over 70 years, has had a made-for-TV-movie, a live-action TV series, numerous comic books, and animated film, a part in numerous other animated films/series, and a few failed pilots as well. Although the demand for Wonder Woman is not as great as say, Batman, Superman, or Spider-Man (the three biggest superheroes out there), there most certainly is demand for Wonder Woman out there.
With Gal Gadot cast as Wonder Woman for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film (which feels more like Justice League at this point), I doubt the character would ever make her way to Netflix, but I believe it would work better than a film. We've said it before and we'll say it again, in this day-and-age, a Wonder Woman film would not work, no matter how much we (myself included) would want it too. That being said, if a character like Jessica Jones is getting a Netflix series, how hard would it be for us to get one for Diana Prince?
In fact, if we only had Wonder Woman in team-up films and then had her on her own Netflix series, there would be no need for a movie, especially with all that Wonder Woman material right in front of our faces. Like I said, this'll most-likely never happen, but I think right now it would be Warner Brothers' best option for the character, specially with her 75th coming up in a few years...
4. The Incredible Hulk
Another character in high demand, and one who actually had a television series around the same time as Wonder Woman back in the day, The Incredible Hulk!
I love the Hulk. My first comic book was a Hulk comic and I will cherish it forever. As a Hulk fan, I hate/love certain aspects of Ang Lee's Hulk and I absolutely love The Incredible Hulk film. His role in The Avengers was fantastic, though I think that Edward Norton still makes a better Bruce Banner than Mark Ruffalo. Either way, the point is, I want more Hulk.
It doesn't look like we will be getting a new solo Hulk film any time soon. This means no answers to what became of the Leader, no more Hulk/Abomination fights, and never one reference to Rick Jones. This all being said, we're not getting a second (or third if you look at it that way) Hulk film, at least for the next Phase or two. So instead, seeming as the audience loves the character and Marvel was trying to launch a new Hulk show anyway, why not put the character on Netflix? You can cast someone else as Bruce Banner or stick with Ruffalo, it doesn't matter, but it would be a great way to flush out some new plot-lines with the character, including more with Betty Ross, more with Leonard Sampson and General Ross, The Leader, and maybe, just maybe, we could finally see Rick Jones in the MCU!
I think the Hulk would make a fantastic Netflix Original Series and with Disney now behind Marvel, it's not like they can't afford it...
3. Nightwing
Here's a character that I think everyone can agree would make a good live-action TV series, whether on Netflix or not: Nightwing! Dick Grayson is an extremely important character in the DC Universe. He's been leader of the Teen Titans, Titans, and the Justice League of America, he was the first Robin and the second (official) Batman. Though Dick has always felt most comfortable with being Nightwing.
A Nightwing series would work for numerous reasons. First off, it doesn't have to take place in Gotham, in fact it's almost better if it doesn't! It could take place in Bludhaven, Chicago, or even New York City as Nightwing has been based in all of those places. You wouldn't have to have a huge cast either, mainly just Nightwing and you could give him a friend or two. I would also throw Barbara Gordon in there either as a retired Batgirl or as Oracle (I'd choose Oracle) so that he has someone on his team to help him out. Obviously, you wouldn't include Batman all to much as this series could easily take place after all fall-out between both heroes and when he does appear it would only be in a cameo fashion.
This series could also take place in the DCCU as it may explain the time between when Dick left Bruce years before Batman vs. Superman. If that's the case, you could easily get people to watch this show, if not for just Nightwing alone!
2. Snake Eyes
Now, technically this character wasn't originally a comic book hero, but he certainly has enough of them to let that slide, Snake Eyes is my 2nd pick for a Netflix Original Series!
The beauty of making a Snake Eyes series is that you could easily structure it like Arrow in the sense that you would have the classic Snake Eyes that we all know and love fighting Cobra and other ninjas on foreign soil while also having flashbacks to Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow being trained by Hard Master in the past and the aftermath of that leading up to the moment where Storm Shadow betrays his father for Cobra Commander. It would be a great way to structure this series.
I would love to see more of live-action Snake Eyes. He was the best part of G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and was definitely my favorite part of the infinitely better sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation! Would it be hard having a main character who does not speak? Yes, it definitely would, but that's why you could add characters like Jinx or Scarlett and make sure that he has enough supporting character that can help explain situations as well as one's who will add to his mission (like Diggle and Felicity on Arrow) as opposed to being a hindrance (like Skye on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
Ultimately, a Snake Eyes series on Netflix would be amazing and it's extremely hard for me not to place this character at Number 1 because I can see the series in my head as I type this, and it seems amazing.
1. The Question
Didn't see that one coming did ya? The Question, Vic Sage, is my Number 1 pick in terms of who I would love to see as a Netflix Original Series! From his amazing run on Justice League Unlimited to the fact that he was what inspired fan-favorite Watchmen character Rorschach, The Question is definitely a character that I would love to see in live-action.
We'd obviously be going the Post-Crisis route, no "Trinity of Sin" stuff, just pure Vic Sage. He would be a lot like Fox Mulder from The X-Files, a man who witnessed something terrible once and then decided to search for the truth. However, in order to expose these government conspiracies, he needs help inside of local law-enforcement. Meet Renee Montoya! We could of course have Helena Bertinelli, a woman on the inside of political corruption who wants to also bring it down, aka the Huntress be a supporting character as well. I would say that we could make Lex Luthor the main villain, but since that would never work, I'd go with none-other than the character that actually inspired the Question himself, Mr. A. Mr. A was always more of an anti-hero character, but seeing as how he doesn't have as big a fan/cult-following as the Question, I could easily see him working as a villain for our hero.
Ultimately, the Question would be a very interesting series for Netflix to do, but I think it would get people interested in more obscure and deeper comics than just Batman, Superman, X-Men, and Spider-Man. Not that there's anything wrong with those characters at all, there most certainly is not, but it would be nice to give lesser-known heroes (much like Arrow is doing) the spotlight for a change.
Runner's Up
All-New/Original X-Men - Who wouldn't want to see Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel, Beast, and Iceman in live-action on Netflix? I mean really? Again, would NEVER happen, but it'd still be cool!
Cyborg - Why not? They use him for everything now, and at least this could be interesting...
Elongated Man - Just read Identity Crisis... Sounds stupid, but I think it would be awesome...
Aquaman - He's been on TV before, I'd love to see him in live-action again!

'Arrow' Producer Andrew Kreisberg Doesn't Deny Nightwing Rumor
For weeks now actor Steven McQueen (The Vampire Diaraies) has been posting Nightwing hints as well as tweeting lots of things about The CW's Arrow. Well now Comic Book Resources has asked Arrow producer Andrew Kreisberg could we see Nightwing show up in Arrow:
He definitely picked the right guy to get me interested, because Nightwing’s my favorite. I don’t know. Twitter’s interesting.Whats interesting is Nightwing is just as important as Batman in terms of legal use on TV. For the longest time Batman and the Bat-Family has been completely off limits to TV. Now the fact the producer of Arrow didn't come straight out to say "No Nightwing is off limits" is very interesting. This could also push the Red Hood showing up on Arrow rumor a little bit further also! Steven McQueen may not end up being Nightwing.....but we could see Bludhaven's protector show up in Starling City!

Adam Driver Denies 'Nightwing' Rumors
A few weeks ago the internet exploded with news that Nightwing will make his feature film debut in Batman vs Superman! Then was quickly pissed off by the fact that actor Adam Driver was up for the role. We at SMN then broke the news that Ezra Miller (Perks of Being a Wallflower) & Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl) was also up for Nightwing.
Now in a recent interview with Collider Adam Driver denies these Nightwing rumors all together but also admits that it be a fun job
I'd also like to point out that just yesterday Deadline confirmed that Adam Driver has been cast in Hungry Hearts. Which is suppose to start filming around the time of Batman vs Superman. So this may be his way of letting the dust settle since he has chosen another film.
Never-the-Less the hunt for Dick Grayson continues....

UPDATE: Nightwing Headed to 'Arrow' ?! Arrow NOT Connected to the Man of Steel Universe?
With all the buzz surrounding Nightwing in Batman vs Superman this news story flew under the radar. A couple days ago actor Steve McQueen (CW Alum from The Vampire Diaries) posted on his official twitter an interesting tweet. He was working out with a Nightwing shirt and tweets "Nightwing Training" then hashtags of all the the writers for the show Arrow:

This is in no way confirming anything....For all we know he was just campaigning for the role and tagged all the Arrow writers telling them he wants to play Nightwing. With no confirmation from the shows producers....the idea of Arrow connected to Man of Steel is still possible!

Earlier this week an interesting rumour dropped regarding the DC Comics character, Nightwing, appearing in the upcoming Man Of Steel sequel, Batman Vs. Superman. Then two days later, it was revealed that Girls star, Adam Driver was one of the many actors on the shortlist for the covered role. Two months ago, I posted a exclusive revealing who Marvel were looking at to play the role of Janet Van Dyne (who later becomes The Wasp) in Marvel’s Ant-Man, which The Schmoes Know confirmed a week later. Now, my source strikes again! This time revealing how many actors are on the shortlist for Nightwing and two actors who are seriously being looked at, read on for more! As said earlier, my source has told me to not reveal his/her real name. Now, if you asked me two months ago, ‘would you want to see Nightwing in Batman Vs. Superman?’ I would have laughed and given a solid, ‘are you serious?’ but now ladies and gentlemen, it appears Nightwing will in fact feature in the film, and earlier today I was notified who else is on the shortlist for the role. The shortlist apparently consists of six actors. One of these actors have been a fan favourite for the role for quite some time now and the other actor is a rather interesting choice, but let’s start with choice number one.
The first of the two rumoured men to be circling the Nightwing role is none other than Gossip Girl alum, Penn Badgley. Badgley hasn’t done much since revealing that he was in fact ‘the’ Gossip Girl. Jokes aside, the studio is seriously looking at Badgley for the role of Dick Grayson/Nightwing in the film and beyond. Badgley is a fan of Batman, and has worked with the studio before, and after his dramatic turn in the film, Greetings From Tim Buckley, it is obvious the studio wants to snap him up before anyone else does.
Now, the second rumoured man for the role is one actor I feel is about to burst on to everyone’s radars. Last year a small romantic dramady came out starring Logan Lerman, Paul Rudd & Emma Watson. Anyone guess what film that was? It was The Perks Of Being A Wallflower; my source has revealed to me that Ezra Miller, who played Patrick, the gay best friend of Logan Lerman’s Charlie, is circling the role.
