During the end credits of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 fans could use the Shazam app to see a series of images that hinted to the upcoming Sinister Six movie which featured Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Rhino, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio. Well, now a video from the bonus disc of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has director Marc Webb confirming that Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio will indeed be in Drew Goddard's Sinister Six spin-off movie:

Today, Sony announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that they are moving forward with Drew Goddard's (Cabin in the Woods) upcoming Spider-Man villain spin-off movie The Sinister Six! The release date set for The Sinister Six is set for November 11th, 2016! This comes after they also announced that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will be pushed back to 2018. Which is messed with their overall plans given Amazing Spider-Man 3 & 4 were suppose to come out in 2016/2018 but now who knows what will happen to The Amazing Spider-Man 4.

Two villains that will appear in the film is Green Goblin (Dane DeHann) and The Rhino (Paul Giamatti) with a possible Electro (Jamie Foxx) return. Other villains were teased in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 including Doc Ock's tentacles and Vulture's wings as well has Felicia Hardy (Felcity Jones) who turns into Black Cat.

Watch out Justice League and Avengers there's a new team-up in town and they don't play nice...

Several days ago The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-writer Roberto Orci told IGN that he will not be returning to write The Amazing Spider-Man 3 (After publicly confirming his split from longtime co-writer Alex Kutzman) and even going onto say he doesn't know where the franchise is headed:

“I don’t know what their plans are for that franchise. I don’t ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I’ve read probably as much as anyone else. There’s a love for the Sinister Six, the idea of Venom — there’s an idea Spider-Man’s going to be one of these characters that’s part of our business. He’s such a popular character. Spider-Man’s not going to go away any time soon. When it all happens and how and all that has yet to be determined.”

Now while everything is "yet to be determined"  remember that The Sinister Six attached director Drew Goddard recently stepped down as showrunner of Marvel's Daredevil to exclusively work on The Sinister Six. Now while this isn't confirmed it seems entirely possible that Sony will move Sinister Six release date ahead of The Amazing Spider-Man 3. This all coming off of the rumor Ain't It Cool News heard that Spidey 3 won't happen before 2017

During the red carpet premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Hey U Guys spoke with Spider-Man producer Matt Tolmach on Spider-Man showing up in the upcoming villain spin-off movies Sony is working on which include Venom and The Sinister Six.

With the Venom movie, with the Sinister Six movie, there's a certain name not on the title. Are we going to see Spider-Man crop up or is it the start of the supervillain movie?

We'll see. That would be an enormous spoiler I cannot give you. I'll just say that anything is possible. That's the fun of that, and that is what you see in some of those Marvel movies. Once you sort of decide to open up the universe, the rules go out of the window and you get to have fun. So, without actually answering the question, we'll see what happens!

He does go onto reveal Sony isn't looking to crossover with Disney or The Avengers anytime soon....but we knew that.

Today The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Marvel's Netflix Daredevil showrunner Drew Goddard has been tapped to direct The Sinister Six spin-off over at Sony. In December he was hired to write the screenplay for Sinister Six but now he will also direct the all villains feature film.He also directed the horror-comedy Cabin in the Woods with Avengers director Joss Whedon.

The Sinister Six has had roster changes over the years but so far we know for sure that Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Green Goblin (Dane DeHann) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) will make their debut in the Spider-Man cinematic universe this May in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. What other villians could you see join The Six?

With Daredevil Netflix show being filmed this summer Mr. Goddard has quite a hand in the comic book movie world...

"Look out here comes... The Sinister Six?" Sadly that little jingle is not as catchy as the classic Spider-Man theme, but in a surprise move by Sony Pictures, it appears we will be receiving a Venom and Sinister Six film within the coming years. This surprise move comes from an official press release, released via the viral site ElectroArrives. Revealing that Star Trek duo, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman will 'godfather' Sony's Spider-Man franchise, the press release states that Drew Goddard (currently working on the upcoming Daredevil show on Netflix) will write The Sinister Six and could possibly direct the film. Another interesting detail revealed is that Alex Kurtzman will possibly direct the Venom film, a film everyone thought Chronicle director, Josh Trank, would end up directing. The press release also reveals that production on The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will begin next fall, with Marc Webb inline to direct, once more. You can check out the press release below!

CULVER CITY, Calif., December 12, 2013 – In a move to forge a new legacy in the story of Peter Parker on screen, Sony Pictures Entertainment, in association with Marvel Entertainment, is developing several new projects in the Spider-Man franchise, with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard to collaborate on overseeing the developing story over several films that will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of Production for the studio.

The five writers, along with the two producers and Marc Webb, have formed a franchise brain trust to expand the universe for the brand and to develop a continuous tone and thread throughout the films. Under the deals, the studio announced that Kurtzman & Orci & Pinkner are writing the screenplay for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which the studio hopes Webb will return to direct; the film will go into production next fall for release on June 10, 2016. In addition, the team will build on the cinematic foundation laid by Webb, Arad, and Tolmach in the first two movies. They will expand the franchise as Kurtzman & Orci & Solomon will write the screenplay for Venom, which Kurtzman will direct; also, Goddard will write, with an eye to direct, The Sinister Six, focusing on the villains in the franchise. Hannah Minghella and Rachel O’Connor will oversee the development and production of these films for the studio. In tapping these five writers, the studio and the producers are guiding the future of the franchise with the writer/producers who have each played significant and key roles in developing such highly successful franchises, films, and series as Star Trek, Transformers, “Alias,” “Fringe,” Men in Black, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, World War Z, “Lost,” Cloverfield, The Cabin in the Woods, and Marvel’s upcoming “Daredevil” series.

Commenting on the announcement, Belgrad said, “The Spider-Man film franchise is one of our studio’s greatest assets. We are thrilled with the creative team we have assembled to delve more deeply into the world that Marc, Avi and Matt have begun to explore in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
