Every other year Michael Bay puts out a Transformers film that's simply gobbled up by the public even if its crucified by critics. With the most recent Transformers film Age of Extinction reaching over 1 Billion dollars worldwide and his other produced film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles getting less then 20% on Rotten Tomatoes but getting the number 1 spot at the box office and having part 2 already greenlit. Bottom line is that Bay sells....

But, now in a recent interview with USA Today the director reveals that he may pass the baton of director to someone new.

Bay, 49, believes he will pass the baton for future Transformer movies to a new director while he turns his focus elsewhere.“There’s kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make,” says Bay, who is eyeing a passion project, a documentary on elephant poaching. “I have a lot of stories to tell. And it’s about flexing new muscles.”

Now does this mean he will pass it off for Transformers 5 or 6? That is unknown but it is noting he also said he wasn't going to return for Transformers: Age of Extinction and we know how that ended up....

Now SlashFilm did speak with longtime Transformers producer Lorenzo diBonaventura earlier this year and revealed he hopes Bay returns:

I wouldn’t wanna be [the filmmaker who tapes over], but there will be somebody. I think the opportunity’s too great. My suspicion is, without having thought really about it at all, cause I really want Michael to return, I think Michael’s found the right mix for this franchise. So the sense of humor, obviously the scale. The invention that’s going on, all these things he really likes and clearly has found a way to continue to top himself. But, you know, I guess if you had to think about who would be the next one, my guess is it would be somebody who probably was a kid who watched the show as a kid because then they’ll have a fundamental understanding of the D.N.A. in a way. And are able to bring that thing that you have when you’ve grown up with it. It sinks into you in a different way.

 Only time will tell if Michael Bay will indeed leave the multi-billion dollar franchise he started....

We know that two of the most popular franchises over at Paramount is G.I.Joe as well as the newly released Transformers installment. After the success of The Avengers ever fan want's to know whill these two franchises also share the same universe? Unfortunately and obviously the answer is no. Total Film sat down with the Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to talk about the possible crossover of these mega franchises.

"I don't think they've run out of stories yet. I think later on there's a possibility. But I don't think in the near future at all. It's not something we talk about either. There's a lot more story to be told in both cases. And I think if at some moment we think, you know what, it's time to bring the two of them together, we'll do that. But I think they're strong enough to exist on their own." 

best that the franchise has to offer. “Transformers: Age of Extinction” has some of the most photo real Transformers that the screen has ever seen. You go see these flicks for the action and destruction and that alone packs movie houses across the globe. The very end of this film when Optimus Prime is riding a robotic T-Rex that was some of the most fun that you audiences will have all year. Did it make any sense to why all of a sudden Prime needed those dinobots? No. Did it service the script and/or the narrative? Absolutely not. But, with that being said it was still amazing to view that on the big screen.

Even though the movie just hit theaters this weekend Paramount has released via Amazon that a special edition version of the Transformers: Age of Extinction Blu-Ray can be bought for $79.99 featuring a stand-y of Optimus Prime atop the Dinobot Grimlock! The release date on the DVD & Blue-Ray has yet to be announced...

Today Paramount Pictures International SVP Edward Ryan came on stage at this years CineEurope 2014 to talk about Paramounts plan for their massive franchises. These franchises includes sci-fi favorites like Star Trek and Transformers. Or even Mission Impossible, Terminator and G.I.Joe.

First they announced that next year in 2015 we will see the upcoming Terminator semi-reboot Terminator: Genesis as well as Mission Impossible 5.

They then went onto to talk about their future plans in 2016 and announced that G.I.Joe 3, Transformers 5 and Star Trek 3 are all slated to hit in 2016!


This comes off word several months ago that Paramount was considering releasing the next installment in the Transformers saga in 2017. This was never confirmed but did make the most sense. We then got word that Transformers 5 is all dependent on how well Transformers: Age of Extinction will do. It seems they have massive faith in the sequel-trilogy to continue it only two years after Age of Extinction.


It has long been suggested that Star Trek 3 will be aiming for the 50th Anniversary of the original series in 2016 so it's nice to see a confirmation. This comes off word last month that Roberto Orci will be taking a crack at his first directors chair after JJ Abrams left to work on Star Wars VII.


Lastly, it has been announced that the sequel to G.I.Joe: Retalition will hit in 2016 as well! It's unknown if The Rock or director Jon M. Chu will return for G.I.Joe 3 but currently Jon M. Chu left Masters of the Universe for Jem & the Holograms.

Don't tell me a G.I.Joe/Transformers crossover wouldn't be cool though?!

Transformers: Age Of Extinction is set to hit theatres everywhere, June 25th.

Variety got the scoop that the writing duo Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman behind the rebooted Star Trek, Transformers, Amazing Spider-Man 2 and TV hit Fringe are officially parting ways. It will not be based off any cruel judgement between them but so they can grow as directors in their separate careers. The two will still work together on TV projects...

Roberto Orci is currently working on Star Trek 3 script and maybe called upon to direct. While Alex Kurtzman is looking to Sony's Venom spin off film as director.

Today, a brand new leaked Hasbro calender found itself online thanks to Vilsco Australia via TFW2005 which seemed to showcase the release date for Transformers 5! According to the image it will be released sometime in the second quarter of 2017. Last we heard was that the upcoming Age of Extinction was the start of a brand new trilogy but all was still dependent on the box office results of Transformers 4.

Since this is not confirmed from Box Office or Box Office Mojo I would wait before getting to excited....

Last week paramount drop the very first full length trailer for Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction. The always faithful Alberta Film Rating website has just updated their trailer section. The highly anticipated Transformers: Age of Extinction trailer has indeed been classified. That means the trailer will debut roughly within the next two weeks! It clocks in at 2:22 seconds long...

While the plot for Transformers 4 has been quiet expect promotion on the film to heat up about now. Just ahead of the TV spot this Sunday at the Super Bowl we have what seems to be leaked plot points for Transformers: Age of Extinction!

''Four years after the Battle of Chicago, the government is using reverse-engineered leftover technology to build their own Transformers. Joshua (Stanley Tucci) is an arrogant designer who believes the Autobots are "pieces of junk" and creating his own robots is a form of art. He's fills basically the same role as Agent Simmons from the previous trilogy.

Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) is a widowed inventor who lives in a farm with his daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz), unaware that she's dating a race car driver, Shane (Jack Reynor). Cade finds a piece of Cybertronian technology and takes it back to his farm, but it is accidentally activated, leading the government and alien bounty hunters to his farm. The bounty hunters (it's unclear if they're connected to the Decepticons) have antigravity weapons which they use to abduct Tessa. In another scene, an entire transatlantic cruise ship is raised out of the ocean and crosses through a busy intersection while the protagonists are in the middle of a car chase.

Sophia Myles is playing Darcy, Joshua's assistant and an archaeologist. Cade, Tessa, Shane, Joshua and Darcy are the main human characters, and the main subplot is Shane trying to prove his worth to Cade. Also, Cade addresses Bumblebee as "Bee" and calms him down when Joshua trash-talks him, indicating he might be Bumblebee's new owner.

Titus Welliver's character, Savoy, is the leader of a team of agents sent by Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammer) to capture the protagonists."

Of course with every supposed leaked plot points take with a grain of salt!

Today Director Micheal Bay made a recent post on his personal blog ripping on the news reporters for taking his words out of context. Blah blah blah anyway at the end of the article he confirms that the very first footage for Transformers 4 will debut during the Super Bowl! With the full length trailer hitting shortly after...

We are working hard cutting the movie right now. I think the first piece comes out for the Super Bowl and a teaser right after that.

The real question is with Transformer 4 footage not coming until February then what does this mean for Ninja Turtles?!

For those of you who don't know what The X-Files is, it was an extremely popular television series that ran from the early 1990's until the early 2000's. It spun two films, one that fans love and one that fans hate (personally I enjoy both), two spin-off series (both short lived), and more than one comic book series. The series starred David Duchovny as FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Special Agent Dana Scully, the series was created by Chris Carter.

The series was a horror, science fiction, drama that featured who FBI agents (Mulder & Scully) trying to solve the FBI's unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena aka "X-Files". However, the main focus of the series, a story taking up over 90 episodes of the nine season (202 episode) long series and one of the two films, was Mulder finding out the truth about the existence of extraterrestrials and what their plans are for the planet Earth.

Now, if this doesn't intrigue you to at least watch the "Pilot" episode of The X-Files, I don't know how I can ever convince you to read the comic! But nevertheless, I will do my best!

Michael Bay's Transformers franchise is responsible for many things, Megan Fox, Shia LaBeouf becoming an ass and Chevrolet. Earlier today, Empire Magazine showcased the brand new and revamped Optimus Prime from next year's Transformers film, Age Of Extinction. While some have called the film a reboot, the film will take place 5-10 years after the events of Dark Of The Moon, and will feature brand new characters. Honestly, I am a fan of this new Optimus Prime, I don't really care that much about how he looks, but if this is how he's going to look? Fine, fantastic, good luck to 'em. You can check out Transformers: Age Of Extinction star, Jack Reynor in Vince Vaughn's new movie, Delivery Man (out in theatres now) or you can wait until June to see him bust up some robot ass. 

 Entertainment Tonight got a quick set visit on the set of Micheal Bay's Transfomers 4 'Age of Extinction'!

 

In a recent interview with Paramount Vice Chairmen Rob Moore via Chinese Press he reveals that Transformers 5 & 6 all depends on how good Transformers: Age of Extinction is received. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise but it seems Transformers was at least discussed as a Saga not a Trilogy.
