"Falling in love is a crazy thing to do. It's like a socially acceptable form of insanity." Spike Jonze's Her is without a doubt one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Directed by Spike Jonze, the genius behind such gems as Being John Malkovich and Where The Wild Things Are, his latest film, Her, tells the remarkable story of a lonely writer who falls for his iOS operating system. While that sounds rather far-fetched, the film does a magnificent job at showing the way the world is, sadly, heading.

Set in a, slightly, futuristic LA, Her tells the story of Theodore played by the brilliant Joaquin Phoenix, a lonely writer who falls in love with his new iOS system, named Samantha, voiced by the extraordinary Scarlett Johansson. Theodore has recently neglected from any social activity since the split from his wife, played by a gorgeous Rooney Mara. As Theodore talks with Samantha more and more, he eventually falls for her, and what ensues is one of the best romantic comedies of all time.
If you look at this film as a simple story about a guy falling in love with his phone, you would think it’s just a deranged story about a twelve year-olds day. But the more you delve into this film, the more heart and soul you find. While I understand, I am at a very young age (being sixteen as I write this review) I too related to Spike Jonze’s film. A lovely part about Her is it’s dazzling mix of romance, drama and comedy. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of times I cracked up laughing during this film.

One major factor that makes Her one of the finest films I have seen in a while, is it’s brilliant acting. Both Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson give amazing performances. Johansson pushes the boundaries of voice acting in this film in ways beyond the brilliance of Disney/Pixar films. Another brilliant performance is from Man Of Steel star, Amy Adams. Adams is really the audience in the film, or at least that is how I saw her character. She really showed the heart and warmth that the person needs.
Sadly, the human race is heading into Her’s direction more and more every single day; I happily award Her five stars out of five, sparking a brilliant start to 2014. If it is Theodore’s heart-warming take on life, or if it is Her’s uplifting ending, Spike Jonze’s latest film is a film that many other films wish they could be, I really could not recommend Her enough.

Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel has been a topic for much conversation this year, and it seems as if it is not over yet. Cinema Sins have finally released their Everything Wrong With Man Of Steel today. Going over some topics that have been discussed, Cinema Sins actually makes you think more and more about how confusing Man Of Steel. I do however suggest, if you do not like the film (like myself) you will have an absolute blast watching this, however if you are a fan of Zack Snyder's Batman movie, then you might hate the video... Duncan Jones' WARCRAFT Finds Its Star In Travis Fimmel
Last night on Channel 9 here in Australia, I was pleased to watch Duncan Jones' brilliant film, Moon. The film starred Sam Rockwell and it was, and still is, my favourite space related movie of this century. But enough about the past, let us move to the future. Variety reports that the star of The History Channels' Vikings, Travis Fimmel has been cast in the lead role in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular video game. I haven't seen Vikings, so I can't really have any say on this casting, but the dude looks masculine? If that's a good thing? I don't really know, but the word around the web is that he's a decent actor. Here's the report from Variety;After a lengthy search, Legendary Entertainment has found its leading man for the upcoming adaptation of “Warcraft,” tapping Travis Fimmel to star. No formal offer has been presented yet but sources say he is their guy for one of the four leads in the film. Fimmel is the star of History Channel’s “Vikings,” which is currently in production on season twoSo with this piece of potential casting news, are you excited for Duncan Jones' Warcraft? After two awesome films to his name (Source Code & Moon) I find it hard to believe anyone doesn't have faith in the very talented young man. Now all we need is Sam Rockwell to join the cast, and I'll be there midnight.
