Several months ago it was reported that Tom Hardy and long-time fan favorite Benedict Cumbebratch were at the top of Marvel's list to star in their upcoming supernatural superhero film Doctor Strange. But it was also noted that both actors may be to busy with other projects to be cast as sorcerer supreme. Well, then just last month before Comic-Con it was reported that marvel was speaking with Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix about staring in the role.
Well, now Collider has revealed that Marvel has indeed met with the actor and are in final talks to sign him. The reason it's taking so long is because the actor would still like to be able to do other films even though he will be Doctor Strange in the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that Marvel should be making an announcement any day now...
