MTV! caught up with Channing Tatum at yesterday's FOX panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. Channing Tatum reveals that back when X2 came out (was actually X-Men: The Last Stand) Gambit was a secondary character in the script but was ultimately omitted. But while he was in the script Channing Tatum auditioned for the role in full Gambit attire and playing cards:

Unfortunately Channing Tatum and Fox didn't talk about X-Men or more specifically Gambit at yesterday's panel. They really didn't have anything on X-Men and the Fantastic Four reboot was no where to be seen.
