As we wait for tomorrow's big Marvel panel a new name has been attached to Marvel's Doctor Strange. According to several sources at The Wrap the star of Her, Signs and Walk the Line Joaquin Phoenix has had multiple discussions with Marvel about the Sorcerer Supreme. Now while they state no offer has been made it's worth noting he was almost Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. As well as being looked at for Bruce Banner back in 2010 after Ed Norton left The Avengers and before Mark Ruffalo took over the role. Which means Marvel has had him on their radar for several years...
Again both parties couldn't be reached for comment and no offer has been made. Expect the announcement on who is playing Doctor Strange tomorrow at the Marvel panel. Other names attached include fan favorite Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy and Jared Leto.
