Let me start off by stating that these rumors are so far out there thats why I put them together. It seems WB may be planting fake rumors to generate buzz on their upcoming epic Batman vs Superman. Never-the-less here at the two most recent rumors.
According to John Campea of AMC Movie Talk 2 UNTESTED sources it seems Joaquin Phoenix is out for the role of Lex Luthor in Batman vs Superman. It seems at least according to these sources Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) is once again the front runner:

If this proves to be true, Green Lantern will join an ever growing list of members from DC’s Justice League of America that also include Superman, Batman and Wonder Women.Again with all these rumors its starting to feel that they all are fake. Some sites say Washington is Lex Luthor while others say he is John Stewart. Bryan Cranston's name is one again in there for Lex Luthor. Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense at all. Never-the-less here are the current rumors circulating the inter-webs.
More solid news should come in the new year with filming beginning this spring!
