Disney Wants Chris Pratt For Their 'Indiana Jones' Reboot?

    '
It really seems that Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt is turning into their generations Harrison Ford. According to Deadline Disney is looking at the Jurassic World star in a possible reboot for Indiana Jones. Now while it seems to be more a wishlist casting on the part of the studio then actual negotiations taking place. It should be noted that Chris Pratt turned down the role of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted feature film. Which has a character extremely similar to Indiana Jones. So in all seriouesness it seems that Chris Pratt is being type cast in these types of roles after his Guardians of the Galaxy role of Peter Quill which is extremely similar to Han Solo.

Robert Pattinson Denies 'Indiana Jones' Rumors; Jokes About Not Getting 'Star Wars' Audition

Crisis averted nerds! Two weeks ago a rumor had made it's way online indicating that Twilight star Robert Pattinson was at the top of Disney's list to take over the role of Indiana Jones in a yet unannounced reboot of the franchise. Well, MTV Movies has since gone ono interview the star during the press tours for The Rover where Pattinson reveals he had no idea it was even being rebooted. He also goes onto be asked if he ever got called to audition in Star Wars: Episode VII by director JJ Abrams and he jokes that he was never called for that either:

RUMOR: Robert Pattinson Up For Lead in 'Indiana Jones' Reboot?

Is nothing sacred? Last we heard about Indiana Jones was that the character rights didn't actually come over when Disney bought out Lucasfilm and Star Wars. But several months later it was indeed revealed that Disney did a smaller separate deal to acquire rights to the Indiana Jones franchise. We had also heard mumbles that Harrison Ford had demanded another Indiana Jones movie be in his contract when he signed up to play Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII but this rumor has never been confirmed or denied.

Now the guys over at The Sun (via MTV Uk) claim that have an inside scoop on the status of the Indiana Jones franchise. It seems that Disney is looking to reboot the franchise from scratch with a young actor to take over the role of Indy. They even have a shortlist of actors they want in the lead which includes the obvious names like Channing Tatum, Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth, Kellen Lutz and non other than Twilight heartthrob himself Robert Pattinson at the top of their list! They are also looking to do back-to-back films which means they need an actor that can do a "three-year commitment" at the very least.

Now I'd like to remind you that this is coming from The Sun and not a trade website like normally so take with a grain of salt until further notice. But the fact Disney went out of there way in a separate deal to acquire Indiana Jones rights means they intend to use him in a feature film at some point.

Disney Buys Back the Rights for 'Indiana Jones'

Well I assumed this was tied to the Lucasfilm acquisition but guess not. Variety is reporting that Disney has officially bought back the rights for the Indiana Jones franchise from Paramount:
The Walt Disney Studios and Paramount Pictures have reached a distribution and marketing agreement for the Indiana Jones franchise.

Under the arrangement, Disney gains distribution and marketing rights to future films, in addition to retaining its current ownership rights which it secured when it acquired Lucasfilm.

Paramount will continue to be responsible for distribution of the first four films in the franchise and will receive a financial participation on any future films that are produced and released.
This seems as if Disney may actually have a 5th Indy film up their sleeve if they went out of their way to reaquire the franchise.

RUMOR: Disney Seriously Considering 'Indiana Jones 5'?!

Today has been full of great Marvel news. Now coming from the other side of Disney is Indiana Jones. Yes, Disney also acquired the Indiana Jones rights after buying Lucasfilm. Now our buddies over at The Daily Superhero is stating from some anonymous source that Disney is seriously considering making Indy 5!

To further prove this rumor Harrison Ford even a few weeks ago talked about returning to the Indian Jones franchise via Mirror UK
"In a New York minute, yes. I don’t think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart. I’m old enough that we don’t need Connery any more—I’m old enough to play my own father!"

Also to further corroborate this story an employee from Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios said:
"No changes are being made to it right now because Disney is trying to be active with the franchise."

Just the one thing that hinders Disney making this project is that Paramount still holds the distribution rights to the Indy Jones films. Though Disney is actively trying to acquire those rights as well.
