After the film wasn't to well received by critics and fans alike Paramount still went ahead and greenlit the sequel the same weekend of its original release. Now while promoting their recent film Project Almanac producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form spoke with Collider about the future of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They mention of mutant fan favorites Rocksteady & Bebop will hopefully appear in the sequel because there simply was not enough room for them in the original film
"We designed and we did lots of work on all of them and then only so many fit in the box and luckily we have another chance to make another one of these movies and some of those characters that got cut out of the first one can make it into the second one.”They then go onto reveal that the sequel will start filming this April once again in New York City:
"We’re in prep right now. We start shooting in New York in April.”Another fan favorite and April O'Neil love interest Casey Jones has also been long rumored to appear in the sequel.
