A little over a week since X-Men: Days Of Future Past stunned audiences everywhere, Simon Kinberg has quickly become a fan favourite following the film's success. Kinberg has been in the superhero movie business for a while, even writing X-Men: The Last Stand, but because of how awesome Days Of Future Past actually is, we're not going to hold that film against him. Chatting with The Daily Beast, Kinberg revealed some interesting details regarding Fox's upcoming Fantastic Four reboot which is currently "shooting."
After the failure of the sequel to 2005's Fantastic Four film, Fox announced that they would be rebooting the franchise going in a brand new direction. This new direction lead fans to be weary of the project even after the film cast a stellar cast including Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, Kate Mara and Michael B. Jordan as the Four. Kinberg revealed that he was on set of Days Of Future Past when he first spoke to Chronicle director Josh Trank about the project. Kinberg revealed that he "talked to Josh, and he had such a clear vision of what he wanted to do with the film that was so different from the other movies—it was grounded, real, gritty, and what it would really be like if you went through a transformation and lost control of your body," Kinberg then revealed that the film would be a "coming of age story," which felt "fresh" to him.
Kinberg has discussed the tone of the new film before, going as far as to compare it to Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man film from 2002. Kinberg reveals that the film will "feel unique as when you saw Iron Man, X-Men, or Batman Begins for the first time," Having a tone like those films would leave some room for some humour which Kinberg reveals that it's not "goofy" like the previous movies. Kinberg also stated that the film falls somewhere between Chronicle and Raimi's first two Spider-Man films.
You cannot bring up the Fantastic Four reboot without bringing up the very controversial casting of Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. Kinberg revealed that "Stan Lee loves" the casting of Jordan. Teasing the audience and the fans, Kinberg also revealed that while on set he "can also tell you that having been on set and seeing Michael bring him to life, he’s really spectacular. He’s doing something really cool with the character that I think will become the iconic Johnny Storm."
