'Assassin's Creed' The Movie Will Be An Original Story During The Spanish Inquisition

Over the weekend Film Divider (via Movie Web) spoke with X-Men: Days of Future Past and the upcoming star of Assassin Creed Michael Fassbender about the movie adaption. News on the movie has been very minimal since the recent draft rewrites that took place several months ago. Fassbender reveals that he is still attached but not much else. The site goes onto reveal that he will be playing characters in both the present and the assassin in past which is set during The Spanish Inquisition.
Michael Fassbender will be playing a death row inmate named Michael Lynch (In the present) who will be a pawn in the war between the Templar's and Assassins. He will be taken by Abstergo and be tested on with The Animus by an evil scientist named Joesph. He will also have a relationship with an Abstergo assistant named Lara (Who will also have a past ancestor as well). Fassbender will also be playing Lynch's Assassin ancestor named Aguilar de Agarorobo. Elements from Assassins Creed 2: Discovery will be used in the film with Tomas de Torquemada being the past antagonist. Aguilar de Agarorobo father will also be an assassin chief instead of Ezio Auditore's father.
In the original game the present protagonist was Desmond Miles with his Assassin ancestor Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad set during The Crusades. In the movie Michael Lynch's and Laras relationship will mirror that of Desmond Miles and Abstergo assistant Lucy Stillman.

It is unknown if the video game assassins Altair or Ezio will be referenced in this movie series. It is also possible a future game may tie into the movie at some point.

Macbeth director Justin Kurzel is slated to reunite with Michael Fassbender on the project as well. Filming was suppose to being this month but is unknown at this point.

Assassins Creed is slated for August 7th, 2015
