In only a four weeks, countries around the world will see Spider-Man back on the big screen in this year's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Earlier this year, Sony Pictures revealed that they will indeed continue the Spider-Man franchise after the sequel this year, announcing dates for a third and fourth film. Last week Marc Webb confirmed that he will return to the director's chair for 2016's The Amazing Spider-Man 3 but today, in an interview with The Daily Beast, the director confirms that TASM 3 will indeed be his last. Marc touched on the topic of TASM 4 by saying,"I’d like to be involved as a consultant, and I’ve already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I’ve had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it’ll be the time to find something else."

However, I would take these comments with a grain of salt, do you guys and gals remember when Michael Bay discussed directing Transformers: Age Of Extinction? Marc Webb also confirmed that we would be seeing a certain someone become a major villain in this film, spoilers ahead. Webb revealed that Harry Osborn will indeed become The Green Goblin in this film, despite what many assumed to be a prototype. Webb said "Yeah. There will be some "creature of the night" popping up." The question still remains, what will Norman's Goblin look like, if this is indeed The Green Goblin? Ultimate Goblin anyone?

As well as discussing Harry Osborn and the fourth film, The Daily Beast also got Webb to touch on the ever present 'Shailene Factor'. This problem came up back in August of last year when it was revealed that Shailene Woodley's role as Mary-Jane Watson was completely cut form the film. When trailers hit for the film, many fans (myself included) spotted a shot of Shailene, however the director does again confirm that she is not in the film. Webb said, "It was just Peter seeing Mary Jane once or twice next door. Shai was only there for a couple of days and it was a very minor part. But I love Shai. She was fantastic in "The Spectacular Now" which was a script I was attached to direct for a long to. She was really cool about it and understood it, and actually suggested it in some ways.

You can check out the full interview in the link above, Marc also discusses the usual comparison between Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 and his The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Plus Webb gives some advise to any young, aspiring directors.
