Yesterday news broke that FOX is moving forward with the 'Age of Apocalypse' story arc in a brand new X-Men movie titled X-Men: Apocalypse out May 27th, 2016. Many has wondered if this will even be a sequel to next years X-Men: Days of Future Past well we have gotten our answer!
Today Bleeding Cool broke that this will actually be a direct sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past.
"[It Has] a clear narrative thread that will string the two pictures together, and the character of Apocalypse is a good part of how this will work. [It's] a direct continuation, a next chapter that picks up the status quo at the end of Days and carries on developing it."The site goes onto say that the First Class Cast and the Original Cast may once again team-up for this film...somehow.
This actually makes perfect sense. Back in July when rumors swirled about a possible Apocalypse cameo or at least a reference we at SMN wrote up an article about how this could take place. If in the future mutants are subjugated to interim-camps by the humans and Sentinels in Days of Future Past. By sending Wolverine to the past to reset the timeline would directly create an alternate future timeline where now Mutants headed by Apocalypse the strongest mutant rule over the humans. Think Planet of the Apes and it sequels. How this all will play into Fantastic Four reboot is beyond me.
During one story arc with Professor X's and Magnetos mind melding to form into the villain known as Onslaught. He captures Franklin Richards (Son of Reed Richards & Sue Storm) to use the child's powers to enhance his own. Well Apocalypse actually teams up with the X-Men to stop Onslaught. I seriously doubt that will happen given Apocalypse will most likely be the bad guy with his 4 Horsemen. Maybe we can get some evil versions of Angel or Gambit? Yes please....
