Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that casting has begun on Gareth Edwards upcoming untitled Star Wars spin-off slated for next year. They start off by announcing that Disney is eying The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Felicity Jones, Pan star Ronney Mara and Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany for the lead female role. Last we heard the film could revolve around a group of bounty hunters being hired by the Rebel Alliance to steal the plans to the first Death Star pre-A New Hope. This of course was rumored before Gary Whitta left the project and Simon Kinberg was rumored to take over screenwriting duties. The site adds that Kinberg might not be able to pen Gareth Edwards script due to the fact he is already signed up to pen Josh Trank's Star Wars spin-off slated for 2018.
