Warner Brothers Very Happy With Joseph Gordon-Levitt's 'Sandman' Script

While speaking to Deadline about his other projects writer and producer David Goyer touched on the still un-announced adaption of Sandman and how WB is very pleased with the current script:
“I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras, but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team… We have a draft Warners is very happy with and we’re moving forward, knock on wood.”
Currently Joseph Gordon-Levitt is attached to project to either star or direct (or both)  and he took part of the ever so popular Reddit AMA where he also spoke about the project:
“Been doing a lot of work with David Goyer and Jack Thorne, working on the screenplay. We’ve been doing our meetings at the DC office, which is a frickin rad place to work. Also just had a great conversation last week with David and Mr. Gaiman. Neil has been extremely big hearted with me, and he’s the one I want to please most.”
It's been rumored by Neil Gaiman himself that the reason Sandman (as well as Justice League: Dark) was announced with the other DC film slate is because they are technically Vertigo titles not in the main DC universe.
