What is this sorcery?! It was rumored last year that Benedict Cumerbatch (Sherlock, Star Trek into Darkness) and Tom Hardy were on the top of Marvel's list for the role but due to his play of Hamlet in early 2015 it seemed unlikely that Cumberbatch could take on such a role. So eventually Marvel ended up in final negotiations with Joaquin Phoenix for the role. That to fell through and the actor stepped away, then several weeks ago a slew of names appeared attached to the lead role including Ewan McGregor and once again Benedict Cumberbatch. Now Deadline is reporting that Benedict Cumebrbatch is finally in final negotiations to star in the film! Now while again it could fall through multiple sources are claiming that he will indeed take the role....Marvel may end up pushing their production date on the film back a month or two to accommodate Cumberbatch's schedule.
