The genre mash-up book Pride & Prejudice and Zombies is headed to the big screen! After such films like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter it seems another historical mash-up movie is headed the big screen with zombies this time. After going through several directors and being seemingly in development hell Pride & Prejudice and Zombies has risen from the dead. Deadline is reporting that Burr Steers (Charlie St Cloud) has been tapped to direct by a screenplay by David O. Russel.
Also the cast has been announced. UK actors Lily James and Sam Riley have been tapped in the leads as well as Australian actor Bella Heathcote. Lily James plays Elizabeth Bennett, Sam Riley plays Mr. Darcy and Bella Heathcote plays Elizabeth's sister. Jack Huston is also in talks for a role.
The novel plays with the relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England who are faced with the challenge of an army of the “sorry stricken”, aka zombies.Principle photography begins this September.
