Just last week Star Wars had announced that Godzilla director Gareth Edwards had signed up to helm an unannounced Star Wars spin-off flick in 2016. These films are expected to be every other year from the main "Episode" films. Now StarWars.com has announced that Chronicle and the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot director Josh Trank has also signed up to director a Star Wars spin-off film!
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy states:
"We're thrilled to welcome Josh into the family. He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX."
Josh Trank adds:
"The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."The exact spin-off that he is directing is still being kept under wraps just like Gareth Edwards.
