We finally got confirmation that shooting on The Avengers: Age of Ultron would indeed take place in South Africa. First it was rumored to be Cape Town then it moved to Johannesburg. Instantly and I mean Instantly people assumed it would be a backdrop for Wakanda. The fictional city within the Marvel universe that is home to Black Panther. Well those dreams may actually be broken....
According to the Gauteng Film Commission...Johannesburg will simply be Johannesburg in the film:
“The great thing about this movie is that they are shooting Johannesburg as Johannesburg. Often you will find filmmakers will shoot in Johannesburg and portray the location as Los Angeles. This time around the first 10 minutes of the film will be of Johannesburg.”That being said Marvel maybe keeping Wakanda story under wraps until filming commences. But for now unfortunately....no Wakanda in The Avengers sequel.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits May 2015
