Melissa McCarthy Eyed For Lead in Female 'Ghostbusters' Reboot

We have heard many positive things from Sony's upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. We know that Paul Feig will direct and make the reboot an all female cast and reboot the franchise for a new audience. We have also heard word that Jennifer Lawrence and Rebel Wilson have met with the director for the film. Now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that longtime Paul Feig collaborator Melissa McCarthy is in early talks to star in the film. If a deal is struck this would be the third movie the duo has done together after Bridemades and The Heat. They go onto reveal that Jennifer Lawrence and Rebel Wilson are no longer in contention for a role in the film. Lastly, they add Emma Stone is still a possibility with Workaholics star Jillian Bell and Saturday Night Live star Cecily Strong also in contention.
"The Ghostbusters reboot is said to be an origin story of new characters who take up ghostbusting and not a "hand off" movie from the original 1984 film (though there is a small chance that surviving Busters Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson could make cameo appearances)."
