After the split from writing duo Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Star Trek reboot, Fringe) it seems the two can't keep their hands out of the cookie jar. It was announced today from Deadline that Alex Kurtzman the upcoming director for Sony's Venom spin-off will be helping Universal Studios create a "Shared Cinematic Universe" with their "classic monsters" in these upcoming reboots:
"They’ve begun the meetings to put together an interconnected slate of Monster films, and the first will be a reboot of The Mummy, which will be released April 22, 2016. Part of their duty will be to work closely with production, marketing, promotions and consumer product to support the revival. They will also reevaluate projects which have preexisting attachments, and bring it under one cohesive strategy."The first will be The Mummy reboot. This reboot will not be an action comedy like the past three films with Brendon Frasier but a complete re-imaging. Other creatures to be in this shared universe will be Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, Creature Of The Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, and Bride Of Frankenstein. I wonder if the inevitable team-up crossover will be titled Monster Mash: Age of the Undead.
While I predicted last year that Universal could make a monster crossover universe I was more specifically was speaking of a Godzilla/King Kong crossover!
