'Attack the Block' Director Joe Cornish Offered King Kong Prequel 'Skull Island' Gig

Over the weekend Legendary announced that a King Kong prequel movie was in the works. It follow the events before the classic story of King Kong (last seen in 2005 by director Peter Jackson) and is titled Skull Island. Well, now Deadline is reporting that Attack the Block and previous Star Trek 3 contender Joe Cornish has been offered the gig to direct it!
"I’m told they’ve offered the directing job to Joe Cornish, who has been offered big movies since his low-budget alien-invasion breakthrough pic Attack The Block. I’m not sure if Cornish will take the job because he’s offered so much — like Universal’s Section Six, the Aaron Berg-scripted drama about the formation of MI6 Brit intelligence branch, for instance."
    No deal has been finalized.
