Today, Deadline is reporting that Rian Johnson the director behind such films like Looper has been tapped to both write and direct Star Wars: Episode 8 and 9! It seems that JJ Abrams will not be coming back for the two sequels to his Star Wars: Episode VII. This is yet another filmmaker that is coming into the galaxy of Star Wars. As recently both Chronicle director Josh Trank as well as Godzilla director Gareth Edwards have signed on to direct two spin-off Star Wars movies.
:: UPDATE :: - The Wrap is now reporting that Rian Johnson is writing and directing only Episode 8. But will go onto just write Episode 9.
