Metal Gear Solid has been in and out of development for years but seems to be catching steam lately. Today, Deadline is reporting that The Kings of Summer director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is in early talks to helm the project. They also add that The Amazing Spider-Man producer Avi Arad will serve as producer on this film.

Snake must liberate two hostages — one the president of a major arms manufacturer — confront the terrorists, and stop them from launching a nuclear strike.This isn't the first video game turned movie in recent years. We will always have the Resident Evil films as well as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Now we are getting Duncan Jones Warcraft as well as Ubisofts Splinter Cell and Assassin Creed moving forward. It seems to be a new era of video game movies.
