Kevin Feige Reveals "DOCTOR STRANGE Is Our Doorway Into" The Supernatural Side Of The MCU; Plus THANOS Cast?

Fox have Mark Millar, Sony have Marc Webb and Marvel Studios have Kevin Feige. Feige, who's produced Marvel films since 2000's X-Men, has become the Godfather if you will, for Marvel's Cinematic Universe. Now approaching their 10th (MCU) film, with Guardians Of The Galaxy, Feige sat down with Empire Magazine to reveal some interesting new details regarding the future of the billion dollar franchise. As usual, the question of how Captain America: The Winter Soldier's ending would leave the MCU was brought up, with Feige saying, "One of the things that excited us about it was not just the potential that it gave the storyline, but the fact that we could change things up in the subsequent films, and in particular Age Of Ultron," While on the topic of The Winter Soldier, Feige revealed that the idea for the sequel's storyline stemmed while they were designing the logos for both HYDRA and SHIELD in the first Captain America film, directed by Joe Johnston. Feige revealed, "Again it goes back to the silly things, like when we were designing the logos [for HYDRA and SHIELD] and commenting on how similar they were."

Of course, as any Marvel fan knows, perhaps the most risky comic book movie in history is set to hit theatres later this year, a little film known as Guardians Of The Galaxy. Starring Chris Pratt (The Lego Movie) and Zoe Saldana (Star Trek). Feige discussed the film but revealed nothing really new... Except, that Marvel has indeed cast someone in the iconic role of Thanos. For non-nerds, the purple guy at the end of the first Avengers film. Fegie spilled, "There is an actor. I'm not sure we wanna announce it yet." Here's praying it's Academy Award winner, Nicolas Cage.

And finally, it appears everyone wants to know something about that untitled film set to hit theatres on May 7th, 2017. Many think it will be Avengers 3 while some think it could be a sequel to either Ant-Man or Guardians Of The Galaxy. But like many, we here at SuperheroMovieNews believe that the film that will occupy that release date will be the sorcerer supreme himself, Doctor Strange. Feige touched on the character saying, "There's a whole other side to the Marvel universe, which is the supernatural side. We've always been very interested in this aspect and this is going back to the early days of Strange Tales with Steve Ditko and Stan Lee. I love that stuff. We haven't done anything that mind-trippy yet and for me, Doctor Strange is our doorway into that."
